The Golden Gear Assembly

Laputa is the newest nation on the world stage, being only officially formed in the tumult of The Border Wars, and making quite an aggressive impression with their advanced and dangerous steam-based engineering. However, now that the wars are over, and their sovereignty has been recognized, they wish to put down the sword and show the world the pen.   While every inventor and thinker of the snowfields and skycities alike have their own rendition and ideas towards this end, a group of aristocrats thought that they'd be able to trump them all through unity. Thus, 10 scions of various families banded together to create the Golden Gear Assembly.   Now, the group has not always been what society would describe as "effective", "active", or "helpful", but their conversations with one another have gone into various aspects of philosophy, as well as aiding each other in coming up with engineering ideas to create. It also, even if just by name-power alone, is quite well respected in the upper echelon of Laputan society, with President Barbenfoullis himself being an honorary member.   While people can, and do, criticize their attitudes often, their companies have developed a variety of technologies that are affordable and helpful to daily life, and sponsor many independent businesses to boot. At the very least, they know to put their money where their mouth is.

Structure

The Assembly, being a small group, doesn't have a complicated structure to it. Essentially, there are three types of members. Le Grand Motrice is the designated leader, who acts as a judge, mediator, and organizer for the various gatherings of the group. Then, you have the standard members, followed by Honorary Members who are permitted in social gatherings and kept in communication with the group but are not involved in their hearings or inner-circle dialogues.

Current Official Members:

  • Monseuir Thibaut Joachim Lévêque - Le Grand Motrice - PDG of Crécerelle Mécanique
  • Madamoiselle Zéphyrine Meunier - Founder of Zepher Pharmecuticals
  • Monseuir Gaultier Bourreau - Decorated General, Founder of Aval Armements
  • Madamoiselle Guenièvre Roy - PDG of Maison de Dragonnier Défense
  • Monseuir Modeste Villeneuve - DF of Prismatique Merveilleux Artifice
  • Citoyen Narcisse Villeneuve - PDG of Prismatique Merveilleux Artifice

Culture

The Assembly, being made up of young aristocrats with lofty ideals for themselves and the future, hold themselves to high standards of culture, decency, and noble behavior. While this potentially (read: definitely) comes across as pompous to the more standard beat of people who hear their messages, those who know the song-and-dance of nobility find them fine examples of society, despite their fervor.

Public Agenda

The agenda of the Golden Gear Assembly is to improve the lives of Laputan society and beyond through engineering and noble living, made all the more real by their collaboration and partnership.

Assets

Each member of the Golden Gear Assembly is from not only an aristocratic family, but also heads various scientific companies, so it goes without saying that there are resources aplenty between them all. As for the Assembly as a unit, they possess a large chateau both in flying Cumulo and surface Nimbus in which they hold their meetings, conventions, and development processes.

History

Laputa made its sovereignty priority number 1 during the Border Wars and proved themselves capable and ruthless fighters with their unique and terrifying weaponry. Even though this is the infamy that gained their independence, it is not the way they wished to be seen forever, especially as that would make them eternal targets for the other nations. Thus, their attention shifted to infrastructure and development, as decreed by the recently-elected President Nathaniel Barbenfoullis.   At the time, the aristocrats that make up the Golden Gear Assembly currently were already friends, young heirs and hopefuls who just barely missed battles of the war yet reaped the most benefits, even outside of their pre-existing social standing. While they happily lived cozy lives, they were still driven by the same curiosity and thirst for innovation that many Laputans live by, and so their gatherings, outings, and parties usually involved conversations on various enlightening topics. This only became more real as they came of age to take steps into either their own businesses and companies or inherit their family's business.   Thus, on one fateful night, they decided to follow in the footsteps of nobility akin to Atalanta or Hippolyta and create a society among themselves, a unison of their minds and companies, in order to gain better success together. This would not be a secret order, however. It would be professionally hidden, sure, but the public would see them and recognize them.    Like them is another, wholly dependent, modifier, but no matter their reputation, this group of noble inventors has remained in the spotlight since.

Genius when dispersed, Divine when Collated.
