Fada Mascarada

"Throughout the forest, all lights dance and fill the night, as Fairies will prance and let passion ignite! The time to create has come to pass, and the spritely few will make it last."
The Fey Court is a paradoxically rigid structure. You cannot purely define it, as it is created from all aspects of nature, a primal changing and uncontrollable thing, but there is often a hierarchy, a stillness to these immortal creatures that centuries of permanence make hard to shake. The Fada Mascarada is one way that is ailed, via the creation of new life.   The Fae do not reproduce as mortal species do. They might, in polite terms, go through the motions with fervor, but they are not born of physical means, and so they do not possess the ability to do the same. Thus to usher in a new generation of progeny, they gather in a pure circular pond, catching the light of the full moon. Then, whoever wishes to create new life channels their magical essence through Pixie Cup flower buds and pours it into the water below.   Then comes the fervor! To help the waters mix, grow, and propagate, the fae in attendance dance all around the pool in various fashions, swirling and spinning and flying and flowing, all as their colorful forms dot the water and the land around it, sending their magic far from the pond throughout the natural world. As the revel reaches its climax, with many of the Fae in attendance adding in songs and limericks in with their dancing, multicolored flowers bloom from the pond, shimmering like gemstones in the light of the moon, and several bunches of new fae emerge, ready to be taught in the ways of pranking and revelry like the previous generations.   While no mortal has been involved directly in a Fada Mascarada, they're well known and often sought after, with seeing one being tantamount to a blessing. There are also stories of children being blessed by the Fae if they were conceived near a Fada Mascarada, or if their mother drank from the pool or ate one of the flowers soon after the Fae had departed, with at least one The Salamander throughout history being conceived this way.

Manifestation

Travelers of the forests in Hippolyta know that a Fada Mascarada is underway when the leaves of trees and flowers alike glow in vibrant, prismatic colors. All along the veins and stems and branches and pollen, shimmering light refracts like that of a disco ball, illuminating the area around the circular pond in a dazzling display of light and color. Those who get close enough can also hear the giggle and music of the fae in attendance ringing through the air for miles, drawing in mortal, astral, and animal viewers alike.

Localization

The only recorded sightings of the Fada Mascarada have been within Hippolyta. However, this is most likely because its thick, forested environment makes it more amenable for the Fae to come out in more visible ways. Similar gatherings under different names have been alluded to by Fae in different regions, leading many to suspect that it's just adapted differently in other lands.
