The Tomekeepers Stylus

A modern mage's best friend, The Tomekeeper's Stylus is a magic wand that can be utilized to copy a magic scroll, page of a spellbook, or other piece of information to the attuned mage's own spellbook in the blink of an eye. While it will still take time for the circles and formulas of a spell to line up with the spellbook's own magic, the copying process can be done in an instant and at the flick of a wrist!

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The first step of this wand is to attune it to your most-used spellbook, this will sync its magic up with the magic within the book itself, therefore providing the destination for the wand's magic. Then, it's a matter of using the wand on the piece of writing you wish to copy. The wand first exercises a usage of Divination magic to separate what is writing and what is paper, and might possibly take more time in the presence of invisible ink, non-ink marks on the paper, or if there's any anti-divination magic on the page.   Following that, it is an act of Transmutation and Conjuration magic in twine that turns magical energy into ink marks in the scanned pattern and sending them to an available page in the attuned grimoire.   To perform this three-step magic, the wand is made out of softwood, easy to make engraved lines for the magic, and reinforced with rings of Leysteel, the most superior metal when it comes to mana conducting outside of the much rarer Electrum. The inside of the wand also has three small gems inside. A clear quartz crystal at the tip for divination, amber for the transmutation magic, and topaz for the conjuration magic.   It is also customary for the wands to be decorated with a minute arcane charm and to place an identical charm in the attuned spellbook, to increase the connection between the item and its target.

Manufacturing process

To make this wand, one must gather the materials listed previously: a soft wood, rings of Leysteel, and three small crystals for conduction.   The first and easiest step, comparatively, is to craft the shape of the wand. Typically, these wands are made with a rather uniform shape, not a lot of fancy curves or handles, but with a diamond-shaped pattern on the handle for grip, and a slightly tapered shaft going to the tip. Then, carefully divide the wand in half and hollow it out to fit in the proper lines of mana as well as the three crystals.    There should be a spot for clear quartz near the tip, and within the handle towards the pommel of the wand should hold a small piece of amber and topaz, the purer the better. Between the three should be carved delicate lines with an enchanted scalpel leading from the quartz to the other two crystals, leaving three pairs of vents that will lead to the Leysteel rings.   Once the crystals are placed and lines are carved, set the wand back together on a flat surface, and carefully place three Leysteel rings around the two halves. One at the end of the shaft, one right underneath it at the beginning of the handle, and one at the end of the handle above the pommel. Once they are placed and the two halves are as close as possible, use a secure glue to reseal it, or the cantrips Mending or Druidcraft if available.   Allow the wand 1 hour for the materials mana to mingle with one another, then enchant the wand with the proper incantation, or lay it in the correct prepared magic circle, to infuse it with the reading, copying, and transferring program.   Once that is finished, carefully sand the outside of the wand and work on the specific detailing. Everything from here on is purely aesthetic.

Since it's a very lengthy task to get the functions of the wand working perfectly, there are only a handful of artisans that can successfully craft one, making them moderately rare.
