Chapter 2 Trehortian Trials

An interlude chapter, in which, the party arrive in Trehort and try to win the favour of the Chiefton, who is sceptacle of the party's abilities. He tasks them with joining his forest rangers until the time of the Full Moon Council, so he may have time to evaluate their abilities.

Plot points/Scenes

Being escorted to the city in some way, the party enter Trehort. They will be taken to the Chiefton, whom they will tell their tale and business to. The Chiefton, will explain his hands are tied until the next Full Moon Council. Until such a time he cannot set out official business for the next month. In the meantime, the party will be sent to stay in the barracks with the soldiers who escorted them to the city.   At the barracks, there will be a mixed reception, alliances will form and rivalries too. The army has been tasked with building a new watchtower somewhere in the forest. The party is brought along when they are suddenly attacked by 2 displacer beasts. They will force them to flee. Upon questioning an army member, they find out they're the pets of Ettin, a two headed giant who wants revenge on the Chiefton.   They report back immediately, and the Chiefton may be pursuaded to tell the party why Ettin wants revenge. (He denied him his daughters hand in marriage and being heir to Trehort.) Then someone comes in and exclaims that the Chieftons' daughter has been kidnapped by Ettin himself and the Chiefton readies the army. He offers the party complete faith in their abilities and his permission to go after The Skimmerang of Elias should they bring his daughter back safely along with the heads of Ettin.   The army and party ride out to seek the monster. They travel until dark and stop for the night. The army build a small camp and light a fire. Now everyone is on edge, the displacer beasts will either attack again or be detected before they do so, resulting in combat. The army and party might kill one or more of them, but will be instructed to leave one alive as bait for Ettin, or get it to flee and lead them to Ettin's lair.   The party may be inclined to try and trap Ettin, and the army might agree. Or not, depending on the relationships they've formed. All scenarios will result in a combat between the party and army, versus Ettin and the displacer beasts. The army and party will rescue the Chieftons daughter, and bring her home safely along with the heads of Ettin. The next night will be the Full Moon Council and the chiefton will give them information on the whereabouts of The Skimmerang of Elias.

The party has just found The Greataxe of Marcus and returned it to Mayor Goneril Coltana of Xanu. The also learned the situation of Lavie, The Goddess of Life and how she's being drained. They were given instructions to track down the other weapons used by the five original settlement leaders. and to ensure they don't fall into the wrong hands.
