Trehort

Schecter20
Among the trees of The Midland Forest you may stumble across Trehort. One of the first five settlements of Ecura, its inhabitants are woodcutters, tree fellers and carpenters. A well camouflaged settlement that is easily missed on an adventure, Trehort is, for the most part, a tranquil place.

Demographics

The population here is primarily a mix of races, the most prominant would include; Gnomes, Elves and Tieflings. Here there are no large gaps in the wealth distributed, everyone builds their own tree-house and pulls their weight with the workload like the next person. All industry here is based around wood and other natural resources.

Government

The government here is a gathering of the elders (age 60 or above) who are responsible for different aspects of life in Trehort; Finances, Culture, Education etc. These leaders propose ideas or problems to the Chiefton of Trehort who then decides on the plan of action going forward. This occurs once every full moon (Aprx. once a month) and is taken very seriously by all involved including the Chiefton.

Defences

Tall trees which are used as a lookout post. No walls as it would make travellers able to find the town more easily, instead the Trehortians rely on an element of surprise, ambush or aerial attacks. The insignificant and unassuming look to the area means outsiders may be nearby without even knowing and may also miss the town altogether. The difficulty to locate the area also contributes to keeping it safe.

Industry & Trade

Woodcutters, tree fellers and carpenters are the main employment oppertunities in Trehort. The trade and income from the industry are what keeps the town going. They are also careful to replant trees so they can regrown over the next few generations so there is a constant replenishing of the forest.

Infrastructure

Almost every building in Trehort looks both unique and similar at the same time. Unique because there are no set ways inhabitants can set up their tree-house. Some have it high above in the canopy, others hollow out the trunks of their chosen tree and live inside. Some have even built bridges up above to be able to get to other areas of Trehort without even having to touch the ground. No two places are the same here. However each one looks similar to an outsider. Every building is within or around a tree with no set distinction between shops, homes or mills. The only distinct looking tree is the one where the Chiefton resides in the centre of Trehort. Stretching miles up to the sky with a thick trunk, it is the onlt tree in the forest with distinct red bark.

Assets

Tonnes of industry, The largest providers of wood in all of Ecura.

Guilds and Factions

In Trehort there are two prominant guilds and factions, The Carpenters Guild, and The Worshippers of Nat.

History

Given to Elias on the First day of Forgiveness, Trehort was founded deep within the Mids'. Using the surrounding forest to his advantage, Elias immediately founded The Carpenters Guild and began training them. He took on the role of both Chiefton of Trehort and Guildmaster of The Carpenters Guild. Doing as much as possible with what he had, Elias proved to know his way around what it took to make a settlement prosper. Upon his death his family line held the title of Chiefton for 364 years. However the role of Guildmaster was not passed down, instead going to the most experienced member of the guild as voted on by other members.   Today, Trehort is a town of subtle beauty with a small but well trained army of troops who keep watch among the trees. The industry and trade established here are what makes Trehort successful and famous, as well as its stunning architecture and elusivity.

Architecture

Trehortian architecture is unique even amongst itself. No set town pattern and no set 'look' to distinguish residences from shops or other buildings, an outsider would certainly need a map or guide to navigate this town. Each building makes use of the surrounding forest as they are within, above or on the branches of trees.

Geography

Surrounded on all sides by the Midland Forest, Trehort is primarily built on flat land. The only people this of benefit to are traders or travellers for the Trehortians dont walk on the forest floor very often. It is inconspicuous to the untrained eye and almost seems camoflaged within the other trees. The only redbark tree in the centre is it's main distinguishing feature however.

Natural Resources

Plentiful of trees and grass, the Midland Lake is also a source of water for the settlement and is not too far away, if one knows where they are going. Plenty of flora and fauna to be made use of within the forest as well to provide sustanance and medicine.
