The origin of Man
Ecliar the Revealer was the first to master the elemental powers of the world.
Wradi asked Ecliar to build him an army to battle against the hordes of monsters roaming the world. Ecliar set out and gathered mud, water and air from the elemental planes. He sculpted man from the earth, blew air into their lungs and poured water into their veins, thus creating the first
Humans: strong and resilient warriors to help Wradi in his divine wars.
The discovery of fire
Ecliar kept the element of fire from mankind and the other gods, for he knew they could not be entrusted with it. The trickster god
Aluntar saw Man huddle together during cold nights and the long winters and took pity on them. He stole the secret of fire from Ecliar and gave it to the Humans. Wradi noticed that mankind was to careless with fire and ordered Aluntar to take the fire away from Humans again. However, it was already too late and mankind had mastered the art of fire making. Wradi then asked
Coras to teach men how to use the element responsibly and productively and to protect against its destructive powers.
Seasons
After teaching Man about fire, Coras brought the element back to his domain. There he set about a great labour: building a massive forge and smithy, which he used to make beautiful twinkling stars. After he finished, he put the stars in the sky, as a token of affection for his mother
Landa. Jealous of all the sparkling lights Coras had created, Aluntar moved the most beautiful stars to the end of the horizon. Landa was fascinated with the stars but to see the most beautiful ones she had to leave the earth behind. Her absence caused the world to grow cold and become covered with frost. Still she visits them for a short period each time, which brings a cold winter to the earth.
On death
When men die the
Wanderer guides their souls to the court of
Marhadal where their souls will receive divine judgement for their deeds in life. In his court Marhadal passes judgement on mortal souls. Men who led brave and honourable lives are sent to the hall of Wradi, where they become divine warriors who protect the living from monsters and the wilderness. Evil or dishonest souls are claimed by
Zoran, who punishes them for their crimes or makes them into monsters to be hunted by Wradi and his
warriors.
Some of the souls bound for the court of Marhadal get lost or hide from the Wanderer. Others make a deal with the Wanderer to prolong their existence on earth. These souls become undead creatures and monsters of various forms.
