The Azol

Introduction:

The Azol were an incredibly advanced species that existed during the High Precursor era. Their home galaxy is over 1 billion light years away from the Founder Galaxy, preventing the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron from discovering the Azol civilization until the final years of the High Precursor era. However, when the Empire travelled to their home galaxy, the Azol were long gone.

Appearance:

Very little information about the Azol exists today. All that is known about their appearance is that they were tall and slender humanoids, had chitinous bodies with cybernetic enhancements, and had three eyes.

The Azol Civilization:

Nobody knows what happened to the Azol. When first discovered their galaxy was filled with barren planets and empty space stations. The salvaged remnants that survived to the present day have shown that the Azol lived in an extremely advanced society, rivaling the Empire at its peak. Their culture had a strong emphasis on curiosity and exploration, and had an abhorrence to violence. According to the very limited recovered biological information on the Azol, their minds were incapable of feeling the emotions of anger and fear, which would explain their abhorrence to violence.   While exploring the home galaxy of the Azol, the ancient imperial explorers found no other spacefaring species. Sentient life was discovered twice, but their planets were covered with a powerful shield that prevented the planet's occupants from leaving.

Disappearance:

The disappearance of the Azol is one of the Empire's oldest mysteries. While many scholars speculated they were wiped out simultaneously by a virus or another invisible agent, not a single body was found in the galaxy. To explain this, most scholars believe that the Azol simply abandoned their civilization, and left. Where they left for remains to be discovered.
