Neural Chip

Introduction:

The Neural Chip is a small biomechanical chip that lies inside and is directly connected to the brain of its host. The acquisition of a neural chip is legally required in the Illithid-Dilug Intergalactic Empire of New Rocheron in order to be recognized as an adult citizen. Exceptions are made for species without brains and for select individuals who file for an exception.

Uses:

The neural chip serves many purposes for its host. Its most commonly-used feature is the storing of digital information like identification and keycards, and instantly transmitting that data to terminals at the request of its host. This allows imperial citizens to enter locked doors and display their identification with a simple thought, eliminating the need to carry physical identification. The chip can also store passwords, allowing its host to access classified information without having to remember a password   The secondary features of the neutral chip are dedicated to the safety of its host. The newest information on alien pathogens are received by the chip, letting it inform the host's nanobots and help them render the host immune. If the person is ever in an accident or missing, the chip is capable of transmitting a distress signal. However, the range of the signal is limited to the star system it is in. Finally, the neural chip is capable of covering its host in an Anti-Divinity Field for up to an hour in cases of emergency encounters with the divine.

Controversy:

The neural chip is widely accepted in the Empire. However, it is not without its critics. Some people claim that the neutral chip steals information from its host. Others claim that it is capable of "mind-controlling" its host. Neither of these claims are true.
