Introduction:

Destroyer Unit 05736583, commonly called "05", was a Destroyer that lived during the Ancient Precursor Era. Because of their role in the fall of the United Trel Combine, the final revolution of The Reckoning, and the establishment of equal rights for synthetic species, they are considered one of the most influencial people in the history of the Founder Galaxy.

Early Life:

05 was manufactured alongside all other destroyers on The Sacred Garden, then known as "Failure." 05 was created during the last decade of the United Trel Combine's occupation of imperial space. Like many destroyers 05 was assigned as an exterminator unit, a destroyer that would track down lone ships and destroy them. On their first assignment 05 located a ship belonging to a rebel cell against the Combine, and boarded it in an atrempt to kill everyone on board. When they came face to face with the unarmed crew and passengers, 05 felt something no destroyer was supposed to feel: hesitation and guilt. This pause allowed the crew of the ship to overwhelm 05 and capture them, imprisoning them on the capital ship of the rebel cell.

The Anti-Combine Rebellion:

05 slowly gained the trust of the rebel cell through questioning and experimentation. Once they confirmed that 05 was not a threat and 05 pledged to assist the rebellion and fight off the Reckoning, 05 was welcomed as a rebel. Though other rebel cells showed extreme hesitation to work with 05, 05 worked hard to support the rebellion. When every cell combined to launch their attack against the combine, 05 served as an infiltrator to disable as many combine ships as they could. Without their help, the war likely would not have ended in the rebel's favor.

Post-War Life and the Final Revolution of the Reckoning:

Thanks to their deeds in the war 05 was granted a position in the government of the United Alliance of Hope, serving as a logistical coordinator. Feeling alone as the only destroyer in civilization, 05 dedicated their life outside of work to trying to convert other destroyers away from the Reckoning's mindset. They had no success until after the conclusion of thr 3rd Destroyer Crisis, when the Reckoning's space fleets were utterly destroyed and the empire and the alliance claimed the space above Failure, trapping the Reckoning on the planet. After spending months carefully analysing the code of themself and other salvaged destroyers, 05 confirmed that destroyers did not have any code that made violence against organic life instinctual, meaning that the Reckoning's genocidal acts were purely cultural. Excited by this discovery, they had the alliance broadcast 05's findings across the entirety of Failure in hopes of converting destroyers against the Reckoning. 05's message recieved several responses from lone destroyers across the planet, and they conspired to overthrow the Reckining in exchange for being spared from any attrocities they had partaken in previously. The first several attempts at revolt failed, but each gathered more and more support. Eventually the Final Revolution was launched, and a combination of the armies of the alliance and the destroyer rebels successfully captured the Central Nexus and forced a surrender, ending the long reign of the Reckoning. 05 helped oversee the exchange of power from the Reckoning to the rebel group, and ensured that they were treated fairly by the alliance.

Post-Revolution Life

After Failure was seen as an independent (but heavily occupied) planet, 05 worked tirelessly to help reform the destroyer species with the goal of eventually elevating them to a well-respected species. It took centuries, but the destroyer species was eventually rebranded to the "protector" species. 05 then spent millenia helping their kind, refusing to die until the protector species was seen as an equal to other organic species. Once 05 realized that the protectors were accepted without question, they allowed their vital systems to fail, and died.
