It was first invented in 2257 by an organization that made updates about their company using the newly invented radio towers. After a few years more people and companies adopted the new technology. Companies dedicated to news arose later one. The technology slowly improved over time and became much less susceptible to crashing and technical errors.

Utility

The news can be biased towards one side or just ignore some pieces of information altogether. These are rare most of the times and only a handful of news organizations are like this. It’s used to help spread the word of stuff going on in the world at the time.

Social Impact

Before the discovery of news any information was printed on newspapers or through word of mouth. When news became a thing it was quicker to gain that information. It’s helped people better understand what’s happening in other parts of the world. They helped gain attention on the military which they only covered after a major incident that occurred on another planet. Off world news isn’t covered much and that is usually handled by the Space Messengers which can get off world information much more quickly than traditional news.

Access & Availability

The equipment required costs a lot which is the main limiter. The cheapest equipment in total can cost at least $1000 which isn’t good for people who want to be in the business but don’t have a ton of money to spare. There are about 60 news companies total.
