Whisper dai Aviss (Whisper dae-of-eece)

Whisper was born in a small roaming village within the Ballock Desert Lands in central Emmeron. He mother died during childbirth, and her father was killed during a raid by bandits along road when she was very small. With the others in the band unable to care for a toddler properly, Whisper was delivered to the Monastery of Salk'Ir in the eastern stretch of the desert, nestled in the Grey Rise Mountains at the age of 2. The monestary was home to two orders of monks.   The first, a scholarly, pious sect, spent their time delving into the teachings of Aewalin, and detailing accounts of the great Hallowing War from ancient tomes, miscellaneous half-crumpling documents, and through the use of scying techniques known only to them.   The second order, a sect of warrior monks who had taken up residence in the south wing of the monestary approximately ten years prior. These monks were known for their martial prowess. While not constrained by some of the moral and ethical limitations of other religious orders, these warriors did often take vows of celebacy, abstence from substances, and other more commonly held traditions. However, their less restrictive beliefs around weapons, violence, etc. allowed them more freedom to pursue interests, exploration, and self-development. At the core of their traditions, was a strict adherence to the philosophical teachings of Aewalin, laid out in the elder scriptures from before the Hallowing War. This religious dedication was often fully consuming, leaving no room for other physical or matieral attachments.   Whisper grew up around these two sects, attending classes each day from sunrise until sunset between the ages of 5 and 13. Excelling as a student, the older monks took note of her abilities, and began her on a regiment of advanced instruction and application of theoretical content. By age 13, Whisper had become the star pupil of the scholars, excelling in nearly every lecture and topic they could give her from philosophy, to mathematics, to art. However, the one area where she held special acclaim was in her own martial prowess.   Like the other children, Whisper had begun a modified training regiment with the warrior monks from at around age 4. This training included necessary practice in the basic martial disciplines, as well as in the use of bow-staffs and other beginning weaponry. By age 6, Whisper had begun sparring with training blades, and began more formal martial arts training. By age 8, she was using bladed weapons and moving quickly through the rankings.   When she arrived at the Monestary, she had been taken in by the monks as a whole, with the collective serving as a large extended family. However, seeing her special gifts, one of the monks, Brother Kar’im Rafiq took Whisper as his pupil, a rite amongst the children of the orphanage at Salk'Ir when they turned 6. This role of pupil was intended to give more opportunity for individual instruction in areas of skill, or deficit. From age 6 until age 13, Brother Rafiq served as mentor and adoptive father. The two became extremely close, marking the pairing as an excellent fit.   On 30 Frostfall, 1712 CE, one of the scholars on the Salk'Ir grounds was beginning study on the connections between the planar realms from a text found in the ruins of a keep that was destroyed during the Hallowing War. unbenknownst to the monk, the text allowed for the creation of a small tear between the material plane and the Void. Before long, the Monestary of Salk'Ir, with many of it's inhabitants asleep, was under assault from Unhallowed. A section of the monestary itself, built during the Hallowing War with shards of the legendary ghost ore, was pulled into the Void along with the inhabitants trapped within range. The warrior monks fought to save the children first, while evacuating the monastery. Many of the order's members were killed, as were the children in their charge. However, Whisper and Brother Rafiq were among the few who were able to escape, cutting through the mountains and emerging near Cloudlock nearly a week later.   It was during the fall of Salk'Ir that Whisper first manifested her most amazing ability. Thought to be triggered by the nearness of the Void presence, and her Lysarian ancestry--the same racial ancestry as the great Yaelman Hamnet Whisper accidentally channeled the Void's power in to a form of teleportation. As the demonic forces began their slaughter, Whisper attempted to protect a group of orphans. During a small skirmish with an impling, Whisper was pinned down, about the be impaled by the impling's stinger, when she miraculously vanished, appearing a few feet away.
