Session 87: Demonic Outpost
General Summary
- While traveling through the Demon Wastes, the Crew discussed and debated the current state of the world. N'nchyk had a jolt of memory of the Crew's first meeting with Brucos, in which he was introduced as Taskmaster Brucos.
- Dooturr received a portion of information from Massimo, ingested from one of their sources amongst the politics of Breland. The source claimed that Brucos, Viscount Okeanos Tsitak, and Maximus Marius had been seen meeting on more than one occasion.
- Ronnie asked Theobald to let the Crew know he is pulling for them. He also sent magically preserved roast beef sandwiches for each.
Demons and Dragons
- The session began right back in the thick of combat against Zorvoth, the black dragon, and the fiends.
- Theobald, though he seemed just a humble, unassuming wizard, sprouted wings and a magical sword, soaring to the front lines of combat. He also dispelled the darkness surrounding Zorvoth that was making him so elusive, much to N'nchyk's dismay.
- Ashpin and Viribus fended off the black dragon, with Viribus very nearly getting downed from the sheer force of a point-blank breath weapon.
- Frisian was blasted with attacks from every direction, but was kept alive from healing from his good friends N'nchyk and Philip.
- The final blow to Zorvoth was dealt by Dooturr, expertly and steadily piloting Preryvatel, the Dragon-Killer.
- Aegoth and Zerathuun battled mightily, posing a threat to all who stood near them - which, considering the size of the dragons, was everybody. Their breath weapons clashed in a godlike battle of elemental power. Eventually, Zerathuun tackled Aegoth through one of the buildings, collapsing the ground into a sinkhole that led to an abyss the Crew could not see the bottom of.
Exploring the Outpost
- After the ancient dragons finally stopped fighting, the Crew got to the real good stuff.
- The Crew made several discoveries in the settlement. While most of the writings were in Abyssal, Theobald was able to translate. The settlement was marked as a Lords of Dust outpost, specifying its location and an identifier. The discoveries were as follows:
- Journal of the Harbingers, written in Common (handout available in Roll20)
- Touching the large, flaming sword gave Bagan a horrifying vision of the Rage of War cleaving an angel in two during an ancient battle between fiends and elves, dragons, and celestials.
- There was a mural with a horrific scene of demonic torment, and an Abyssal phrase etched across it: “curse the six”.
- Tome of Fulminore the Warlock (handout available in Roll20)
- A mirror that only Viribus could see his reflection in - and he sees himself as a true avatar of Tak Keres, clad in infernal armor, wielding a weapon wreathed in eternal, searing rage, radiating an aura of pure, unbridled power. It is clear that the path that Viribus’ sword desires for him still has the potential to be walked
- A scrap of parchment, little more than a singed corner, reads: “...toppled, and T.M. Brucos is responsible for the role of the mortal martyrs. Located within Sharn; their subservience has been secured. Their place within the Prophecy remains intact.”
- The rest of the journey through the Demon Wastes was not uneventful, but the group as a whole is quite powerful and overcame each challenge presented to them.
- The companions of the Crew offer to meet up with their counterparts at a later time, but they each have their own matters to attend to.
- Massimo is overseeing the building of the skeleton nation.
- Linette is rallying some of the Dusk Watchers to investigate Duncan’s story in the Mror Holds.
- Kyro must attend to the Stead Pyre Circle as they are still in the process of grieving and rebuilding.
- Nicholas must proceed with his expedition into the Mournland.
- Theobald has spent too much time away from Khorvaire. He will investigate the downfall of CAG and check in at Morgrave University.
- Duncan will kill some drow.
