Silverhome

Written by Salen

One of the biggest airships made so far, the Silverhome is the Nation of Sylls flagship and one of the reasons that no air invader dares to try their hand against this nation. A class 80 Mark 9 Warcraft, The only thing that could compare to this ship would be the Nation of Garon'ds Mark 7 Warcraft, and even that is smaller and slower to turn in an air fight, leaving it vulnerable to the firepower that this ship brings with it. Talk around the forge is that the King is in discussions with Raervyn Halloran and Grym Hammersmith to add magic to this ships armaments, but that is rumor only. Silverhome has three razor wings located in the rear of the ship for maneuverability, increasing its devastating prowess in the air. The ability to bank and turn at a faster rate than possible, at its great size, catches most craft highly unprepared. The ship has a huge flat deck with a magical glowing sphere in the rear of the ship.

Levitation Sphere

This sphere acts as a permanent levitation field so as to keep the ship hovering even if its engines fail. The secondary effect of this magic is to keep its crew from falling off the ship during tight turns or even explosions. Its field reaches out to five feet all around the ship, so anyone falling close can be caught mid fall and rescued. If anyone is blown farther than that, they will not benefit from the magical field.

Separation

One of the highly guarded secrets of the flag ship Silverhome, is the last ditch attack that it can use against a large ground target. If crippled and defeated in the air, the crew of Silverhome can evacuate to thelower two pod sections and actually detach the center bottom ship section, dropping it like a huge weapon at the ground. The two coal engines located there would, on impact, cause such an explosion as to almost wipe out a small city, and leave a substantial crater in its wake. This has never been done, but drills are still conducted for time and speed in this situation. Because of the blade shape of this section, it would penetrate most anything it hit, so as to cause the most damage to any interior that it hit.

Power Generation

6 coal driven steam engines, 2 each located in the lower pods, and 2 in the bottom middle section of the airship.

Propulsion

6 steam driven propellers on rear of the ship

Weapons & Armament

Silverhome boasts an impressive armament of weapons. There are 5 forward sixshooter cannons (maneuverable to 90 degrees, 12 side single shot cannons (6 per side) with only limited maneuverability, and four rear ballistae that fire 6 foot anchor arrows with rope for boarding vessels with a 120 degree turning radius. (they also do considerable damage in a pinch to most hulls such is the draw strength. There are also dozens of powder filled bags that can be dropped on targets below. The powder is colored as to mark targets for other airships coming in behind the flagship for better targeting.

Armor and defense

Iron wood plating mixed with spell defenses gives this airship incredible staying power in a fight

Sensors

The ship has a wide array of sensors, clockwork and magical.

Hangars & docked vessels

There are 35 smaller airships, mostly single passengers and a couple dual passenger, on the upper flat deck that can be used as attack drones, or escape pods.
