Damphere Plant

Written by Salen

One of the most revolutionary discoveries in the last five centuries, this small tree-like plant grows only in the Forest of Damphere Named after the elven phrase for Quiet death, this plant was found by the great orc tracker Grendyl and once she realized its properties, she rushed it back to the shaman for observation. The properties of the plant are the reason that the orcs were able to silence the elves without mutilating them further, and has been found to have other properties in medicine as well.

Surgery

The other property of the plant is its numbing touch. It's leaves are harvested and made into a paste that is rubbed on the skin before surgery to numb the area before incision. The paste is made into different thickness as well for potency and has been found to be passed around in dark corners as a drug for the young orcs.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Humid/tropical locations, existing within the coniferous forest domains (unique) The plant has been grown outside of its main habitat, but has never reached maturity before withering away.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Damphere Plant is used in production of the potion used to paralyze the elven vocal chords. The plant has unique properties that when chewed, it rendered the person mute for a time, and in some cases the throat closed up altogether. Unfortunately it also has a numbing property, like Novocain, so that most people never knew what happened until it was too late. The science of Elven Silencing is due solely to this plant.
