Mammon

the Blind

Mammon, the Blind also known simply as the Blind God is a case alike Lucifer when it comes to the demon lords of the Seven Hells. For though he has claimed the position of the demon lord, he himself does not even recognize that he is in such a position. Unlike all of the other demon lords, Mammon did not start off as a demon, instead, Mammon is believed to be an Empyrean; having fallen to the layer's bountiful plunders.

History

Before Mammon even entered the layers of hell, he was an Empyrean called by the same name. Though back then he was Mammon the Golden Sentinel, who guarded the god, Waukeen. Waukeen throughout time has been targeted by the forces of the Seven Hells, as she exhumes and governs control over money and worldly possessions. Therefore she employed the use of the strong celestials guards, known as Empyreans. The Empyreans have been the protectors of the gods since the very dawn of time, so Mammon's task of protecting Waukeen was nothing out of the ordinary. However, as time passed the increasing number of demons of ever-heightening power that attempted to attack Waukeen became daunting to Mammon. In an attempt to cease all future combatants towards Waukeen, Mammon decided that he would destroy the layer of greed, in hopes to destroy any demon who would want Waukeens treasures. However, in this attempt, Mammon himself got caught in the ever-greed full snare that is the gate and now we find him something very different. A corrupt Empyrean that remembers that he has to protect someone's treasure, but not who's.

Depiction

Mammon once a giant of pure gold but now this gold has been corrupted. Due to the look of Mammon, many in Eastrix refer to him or simply the act of greed as "rusting gold" as Mammon now has taken a rusted look in his skin tone. Mammon hides his face within a mask, the reasoning behind this has never been known but some say it is to hide his empyrean truesight to stay indulged in the delusions of The Gate. Besides this, his once beuthiful silk toga has now been replaced by worn and torn leather sheets that collectively form a tapestry. Along with his ragged clothes and mask Mammon carries only but his maul that now has seen so much use that its once fine detailed beauty has been scraped into a messy and blunt flat hammer. His muscle and fine body structure still stands but it has been said that he has started to produce tentacles of pure metal from his body that functions as well as any other body part on him.

Divine Domains

Whilst Mammon is not necessarily a typical demon lord like many of the others present in the Hells, as he does not receive the same cult-like prayer that the others do, Mammon carries on the corrupted essence of an empyrean. Mammon therefore effectively works as a fallen celestial entity and is often used in literature or stories of other demonic cults as an example of how frail and easily corruptable the creatures of the heavens are.
