The first ever Vareholm Tournament of Magics and Arms was a great success, with many people sitting on the edge of their seats as well as cheering for their favourite combatants.

The Magic Tournament had four strong contestants, but it was Kaecil Kayessan who, with his strategic timing of Magic Missiles, was able to best both foes he faced, Aamund Torleifss, and Taur Randir, who received the consolation prizes of second and third respectively.

The test of skill at Archery had Adelhard Tod, Calen Raulnor, Aamund Torleifss, and Nue Tei. All shot very well, with at least one bullseye each. At the end of three rounds Aamund Torleifss and Adelhard Tod were both tied with 47 points each. In the tie breaker, it was the new comer, Aamund Torleifss, who although was not nearly as proficient with a ranged weapon as he is with magics, was victorious, securing his victory with a score of 55, compared to Adelhard Tod’s final score of 49.

The grande melee was as drawn out as one could imagine when five contestants are all battling for first place at the same time. There were many good blows dealt, many strategies tried and tested, but it was Taur Randir, the cleric, who was out of his element without the use of his magics, who was able to stay safe until it was just Calen Raulnor left. The two of them swung mighty blows, but it was a critical strike of Taur Randir’s quarterstaff that knocked his foe to the ground.

And finally, the Tournament of Martials skill was won by Calen Raulnor, who was facing the nearly impenetrable Kruger in the final round. It was thanks to Calen Raulnor’s initial shot with his crossbow that weakened his opponent before, after may parries and dodges, was able to land a clean blow of his scimitar on Kruger, felling him. Although first was not in Krugers fate, he still receive his prize of second place, and third to Adelhard Tod.

Congratulations to all the Victors, your skill on the battle field did not go unnoticed, and you were rewarded with not only gold, but with the respect of residents of Vareholm , and the humility of your fellow adventurers. I see many successful tournaments in our future. For those who did not prove themselves as they had imagined, continue to shoot for the sky and you will land among the heroes.

Yours truly,
— Sir Boaz Charleson Hamison of house Hamison
