EM for short. We’re really happy to have you join our server. This page is intended to get you up to speed on the world of Idriell and guide you through character creation.
Here are a few things to know before joining our community:
- Don't be a jerk.
- Please keep language relatively Safe For Work (SFW). See Rule 1.
- Don't spam or do anything to detract from the discussions taking place.
- Don't self promote, it is rude. This includes YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, or any other content created by the poster.
- Have fun!
The X Card
Due to the nature of a community like the East Marches it can be difficult to gauge the comfort level for all of our players. Therefore, if a player is uncomfortable with what is happening, they can type
X in the game chat. When this happens whatever is happening should be fast forwarded and moved off screen. Don't mention it, just move on.
If you'd like to play games in our community, follow these steps to get started:
Step 1: Lore Primer
The world of East Marches is a Faerun adjacent setting with immense opportunity for unique player content. Please read this
Lore Primer to get up to speed on common in-character knowledge in the world of East Marches.
Step 2: Join Discord
Join the
Discord community, where everything happens! You can introduce yourself in the
#General chat if you want to. Channels within the
Help, Advice & Feedback section will be immediately available for your conveniance, which includes a
#Character-Creation room specifically for talking about making your character, and
#I-Have-a-Question for DM rulings and any other question you'd like answered by staff.
If you need help or just want feedback on a character idea, ask us! We'll be happy to assist.
Step 3: Create Your Character
These are the current
Character Creation Rules.
The character application process is fully outlined in a pinned message within the
#Character-Records room on Discord. The abridged version is as follows:
Fill out the
Character Application Form. Once this has been submitted, it will post to the
#Character-Records channel and the staff will be notified. The staff will then review your application and notify you on acceptance, or if anything needs to be changed. Once approved, a thread will be created from your application submission. This thread is your
Character Records Thread and is used to track all of the East Marches relevant information (including what your character does in downtime, rolls for HP, item wish lists, etc.)
Step 4: Change Your Discord Nickname
Change your Discord Nickname to "Character Name (Discord User Name)". This helps everyone keep track of roleplaying elements.
Step 5: Add Your Character to Our Roster
Please fill out
this simple form. This will add you to our mega list of all players and characters and is used often by staff and DMs.
Step 6: Set up your Roll20 Character Sheet
If you have a premium Roll20 table, log in and follow
this guide.
If you do not have a premium Roll20 table, ask a DM to assist you in
#Character-Creation or
#I-Have-a-Question.
Step 7: Sign Up for an Adventure
New adventures will be announced on
Discord, in the
#Game-Announcements channel.
Once you find one that piques your interest, apply by responding within the thread. The DM will ask you to fill out a quick questionnaire. Each DM might have specific things they're looking for, and they might not even want the usual stuff. Here is a sample of things they may ask for:
Character name
Class, level, and race
Brief description of what your character brings to the team (1-2 sentences max)
Date of last adventure
What's your motivation for wanting in on this job
Step 8: Submit Your Post-Session Feedback
You can earn
1 Favor by completing the
DM Feedback Form. Be sure to check out the
Favor article to see all the benefits you can obtain!
