Namarrkon Character in East Marches | World Anvil

Namarrkon

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Namarrkon stands just over 6', with broad shoulders and an altogether large frame. His looks owe more to his Orcish parentage than his Human, with prominent tusks and a thick black beard that matches with his loose, messy shoulder-length black hair. A second-glance to the untrained eye is definitely required to know that he's a Half-Orc. His skin is leathery from sun-exposure, dotted with cosmetic scarring across his arms and body, and two vertical scars below each eye, also sporting a large brass bull-ring in his nose.

Identifying Characteristics

Despite the overall wild and aggressive look, he is usually calm-faced, and quick to smile.

Apparel & Accessories

His clothing is an array of browns and earthy reds; wearing a tough leather hooded cape over the top of well-worn clothes and what appears to be scavenged scraps of metal fashioned into a makeshift armour. He sports a shield on his back, and a dodgy looking warhammer made from beaten metal and bone at his side.

Personal history

Namarrkon was used to travelling the desert wastes by himself, only returning to his old mob on occasion to trade away collected scrap or information about the wastes in exchange for food, water or conversation. The rest of the mob saw him as bad luck - whenever he was around, the Lightning Serpent would agitate and storms would roll in, and so they welcomed his visits but would not tolerate him for long. Despite his isolation, Namarrkon was an avid conversationalist - often weaving mystical tales to his mob or other desert strangers when possible, otherwise conversing with the spirits of the land.   One evening while wandering the endless desert, the sky turned darker than even the thickest of storms Namarrkon had seen - and the sky never lit up again. He spent the next few 'days' trekking back to his mob only to find the entire outpost decimated - with horrific nightmare creatures wandering aimlessly amid the blood and bone that was once the people he knew.   The Lightning Serpent cracked a warning to him, and so he fled. He saw this as a guidance to leave and return when he can heal the land and reclaim the desert as its own once again.   Following this, Namarrkon wandered without purpose, eventually finding himself on a ship headed to a continent he'd never heard of - excited and terrified for what lies ahead.
