Memnissa Anastasio - Tashtiri

(a.k.a. Nissa)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Nissa appears to be a human woman in her mid twenties. She has a slim build and stands at about 5'4", with pale skin, hazel eyes, and long hair down to her back that is usually pretty messy.   She generally prefers simple clothing, but is just as likely to be seen wearing a finely made dress as she is a baggy shirt and old, torn trousers. She goes barefoot whenever she can get away with it, and usually looks like she hasn’t slept very well.   Perhaps the first thing anyone notices about her is that she's almost always fidgeting with an magical flame in one hand. This flame tends to change color every few minutes. She is also always seen with her smoking pipe, carved from bone in a broad, flat shape and covered in decorative etchings.

Personal history

Memnissa Anastasio is the third of five children, and the product of an affair. The family tries to keep the fact that she is a bastard child under wraps, but she certainly feels it in the way she is treated, and in the way her odd dreams and psychic powers are treated. Her biological father, a Kalastar of the line of Tashitiri, was alone and far from his people. He sought to continue his line, to keep Tashitiri alive, but died not long after her birth. Mem knows nothing of this, and her mother knows very little of it, as well. With her mother a scholar and her father a diplomat and colonial governor for a city state in the Eddrian federation (connected to Calstona), there was no shortage of travel in Mem's life. She has seen many different places on many different continents. Her family tried to entertain her odd an precocious interest in nature and magic, and sought her instruction in Wizardry. When she became an adult, she dropped out of school and sought her own livelihood in jobs both legitimate and illegitimate. It was during this time that the exiled Pentathlete Champion of a local Leonin tribe sought her out as seer and diviner.   Mem played along with the Leonin's obsession with destiny, and the benefits that her association brought. And she perhaps sparked a kind of friendship with the woman, but ultimately sent her off to Idriell. But now Mem questions whether there might be something more to her visions, and if there's something out in Idriell for her as well. A path to godlike power for herself. That is, in addition to her family pressuring her to keep an eye on this would-be usurper, that they might find some advantage in the political upheaval she would cause.
