Personal history
Before Vareholm
Cedric grew up an urchin in a large city. He was taken in by a thieving crew and taught the tools of the trade. When the crew he was a part of fell due to negligent leadership, Cedric created his own team, which he named "The Children of Fortune", a name he co-opted from an anti-tyranny rebel group from a neighboring country that helped lead said country to freedom some decades prior. Cedric preferred to lead his crew through a policy of compassion and mercy. Whereas other crews would keep their members in line through threats and coercion, Cedric found a niche in leading one of the only underground factions that took active efforts to care for the inhabitants of the city. As a result, many individuals without another place to go would show up at the doorstep of The Children of Fortune, and Cedric would take them into his care. He believed he did this purely out of practicality, but after his arrival in Idriell and meditating on his life, he realized that he genuinely cares for the wellbeing of others. Shortly before the Calamity, Cedric was involved in a jailbreak that went wrong and wound up in prison himself. A drug in his food and water left him unable to think properly or use magic. It took 10 years before he was able to force himself into rational thought and begin his escape. The decade of imprisonment left him emaciated and much weaker than before, but the process of being forced to think while under the influence of the drugs sharpened his intelligence. The contingency plan he put in place in the case of his capture meant that the members of The Children of Fortune had fled the city and split up, unable to be found, in case their location and identities were tortured out of Cedric. With no contacts or reason to remain in his home town, Cedric decided to sail to Vareholm and see what kind of new life he could come up with.Idriell
Upon his arrival in Idriell, Cedric quickly took to the adventuring life like everyone else. After an adventure in a story dreamt up by the The Storyteller , Cedric met [ERROR 404 FILE NOT FOUND] in their club, Luster Nightclub . The pair immediately realized their chemistry (alchemy?) with each other and began dating shortly afterwards. During that time, Cedric decided that one of his primary goals would be to "free people from their prisons, whether physical, emotional, or mental, so long as it doesn't endanger the freedom or safety of others." As a part of this oath, he has often sought to give advice and guidance towards new adventurers, and to help them in their own quests for freedom. His adventures have yielded him many spoils, including an armor that allows him to access some fragments of forgotten magic that can power limited flight and propel him through the air with a grappling hook. He often uses this armor in conjunction with a many tasseled Cloak of the Bat to create a dramatic visual effect.Return to Nyacos
One day, Cedric left Vareholm and returned to his homeland for an extended period.Homecoming
Cedric returned three months later, with several individuals from his old crew, as well as a large amount of treasure. Currently, he is working to create a codified history of Idriell and a better way to equip newcomers, so that they can be better prepared to face the dangers of Idriell. A major goal of his is to help the nameless paladin to recover their name.Gender Identity

Cedric frequently plays the role of a detective. On every job, he's looking for things that don't feel right, things that feel too right, and any opportunity to get more than he should be able to. When someone tells him that something is impossible, he will take it as an invitation to prove them wrong.

His worldview is rooted in his experience as an elf in a largely human city. He's seen people be born, grow old, and die, and most of them were miserable. He feels that they all made the mistake of thinking that their life is something that will happen in the future, once they accomplish something or reach a milestone. Cedric decided that he will never think like that, and is always remembering to soak up every possible moment.

Currently, he finds himself aligned towards Galloran, the only god in recent times that has bothered to reach out towards the adventurers in Vareholm. Galloran even deigned to give Cedric power, the only one besides Professor Starlett to receive it in modern times.
