The Fateweaver
Maer is the deity of dreams and fate. She is associated with personal freedom, or freedom-from-fate, rather than being a goddess of fateful predetermination. Maer is strongly associated with the larger of Eashavar's moons,
Maeras, which is her primary symbol, though she is said to guide the entire fabric of the stars above. Her followers include oracles, sailors, and outcast wanderers.
Followers of Maer are her
wayfarers. Her holy sites are referred to as
gateways, and they tend to be in natural or open areas which are purposefully established for celestial observation and divination. Such areas are said to lie on
ley-lines, a term that wayfarers use to refer to the connection between the stars (which they consider direct messengers of fate) and the world. Stone circles, sun dials, and other tools which channel the light of the sky above are often constructed at these gateways.
Maer's writings on the celestial fabric are contained in
the Rubiora, whereas her more mystical wisdom is contained within the
Sacred Geometry. She is the lover of
Ah'yelan and the mother of
Fraeyr, as well as
El'yr through an affair with
Nenzus and
Zakrul through an affair with
Cinakath. Maer is also the sister of
Orovas and a close companion to
Fae'len.
