Captain Gilbert Benjamin Hennessy
Gilbert has found himself in more mischief than he's comfortable with, most of which (by his reckoning), isn't his fault. Born to the infamous Robyn Jil-Ghelian; a renegade sea-elf turned pirate queen turned exile, and her husband Benjamin Hennessy, Gilbert was raised in the swampland interior of the rift. When he was 16 he found his father murdered and left to the beasts of the swamp, and his mothers destroyed bow; leading him to believe his mother had died. Heartbroken and destitute, Gilbert journeyed to Gulltown with his mothers violin and began to play to make some money. He found he had a knack for entertaining, and soon found himself booking passage from port to port in the Rift, living off of his talent for music.
It was on one such occasion that Gilbert was met by his half-sister, Nethalia Morgaine. She pressed him onto her crew and soon he found another talent; sailing. He sailed with her for many years, until they had a falling out. Nethalia began sinking Bristol Merchant ships, feeling that they were transporting spies into the rift. Seeing his sister seem to go rogue and break the Privateers code, Gilbert turned her in Trichthaven for piracy. She vowed vengeance, and sorrowfully Gilbert turned his feet inland to hide from her wrath.
He travelled east to Frewoldt, playing at taverns and in town squares alike. Then, one morning after a rowdy night, he awoke to find himself in the stocks outside the sheriff's office. What happened next, is somewhat of a long story...

History
Nethalia found Gilbert in Easterport panhandling for a meal. She brought him aboard her ship and soon realized that he was her half brother. They sailed together for several years until Nethalia began to hunt subversive agents from Bristol. Her ruthless tactics and unwillingness to explain her intuition to Gilbert created a rift between the two. Gilbert had a crisis of conscience and turned Nethalia in for maritime crimes. Since her escape from prison and full acceptance of her abilities she has accepted her brother once more, but has yet to forgive him. Gilbert now knows that she was right and feels that he has to make it up to her.
