Budnir Karlsson Character in Earedar | World Anvil

Budnir Karlsson (Bood-near Karl-son)

The Great Wolf, The Warrior-Poet, The First Skald

"The dire bear tensed in sudden hesitation, and then with a savage fury the young Budnir lunged at the beast, his blade piercing his chest. As the mammoth creature fell down upon Budnir, blood washed over his frame, he burst out in a traditional Tul Vos song, to celebrate his victory."
The Legend of the Great Wolf

Budnir Karlsson was born in the Frozen North during the Age of Antiquity. It is unsure of which clan he was born to, as all clans currently claim to have descended from him, and with the amount of children he bore, it is entirely possible they are all descended from him. It is known however that he was the first and only person to unite the roaming Tul Vos clans, taking upon himself the title of Kudnir-Vaht, or Great Wolf. Under Budnir's leadership the Tul Vos clans ravaged the northern half of the Third Dynasty of the Xa'a Empire, as well as the northern coast of the Inner Sea, reaching as far south as Yvren. Eventually Budnir would abdicate his throne for reasons unknown, but his journeys thereafter are chronicled in the epic known as the Legend of the Great Wolf. Budnir is known to have journeyed across the Known Realms and is one of only two mortals to have ventured into the Far Realm. Upon his death, Budnir was raised to divinity as a Lesser God, and is worshipped amongst the Tul Vos clans. While several after him have claimed the title of Kudnir-Vaht, the clans have been consumed by conflict since his departure.
Both during his life and after his ascension to divinity Budnir has had many partners, the foremost amongst them being Shevra, the Lady of Winter.
