Nami Mono

Nami Mono is an old religion, as old as the Southwest Shoals. Because of the variance in the shoals, the spread of the religion and the general tolerance of Nami Mono towards new ideas, it is hard to nail down any universal qualities. Generally, Nami Mono is described as the worship of a unifying force that persists throughout the universe, personified by the ocean. This unifying force is the Nami Mono, and many who adhere to this religion attempt to become enlightened, the end goal being becoming one with this unifying force, or understanding it and allowing it to flow through them, becoming conduits.
Nami Mono is a very peaceful religion, praising tolerance and widespread understanding, while attempting to spread their message. Nami Mono acknowledges to gods, yet does not attempt to worship them. This is left up to the people worshipping - while Nami Mono allows one to stride forward to a goal, gods such as Kiyokanis make a very tangible, instant impact on the world. Nami Mono also encourages peace, respect of the environment and dedication to one's family to close ones. This is not to say it is a completely pacifist religion. During the The Period of the Ocean's Expansion, the Nami Mono religion, as well as the temples in the Shoals provided military aid and housing, against the might of the Kaiyocean Shogunate.
Nami Mono has various places of worship, in the shape of open air pavilions, often sticking out of the ocean in isolated areas, allowing practitioners to sit, meditate and focus on the ocean around them. Temples are distinctly simple, yet beautiful, with well crafted stone inlays, and decoration from the ocean. Organizations of Nami Mono are not common, as most who worship are encouraged to find their own way, their own idea of Nami Mono
