Ku'Tou Jungle
The Ku'Tou Jungle is an eastern Terr'Ainan region, settled for the thousands of years humanoids have been present in Ealam. It's most notable characteristics are the otherworldly landscapes and extreme amounts of biodiversity found there - beating out even the deepest Kaiyocean trenches or most lush Aeravan Sky Isles.
Currently, the primary settlement of the Ku'Tou Jungle is a busy trading town known as Shanjou. Unlike many other places in Terr'aina, agriculture nor large amounts of a single resource make Shanjou the hub it is - but rather, the smaller amounts of many luxury goods found within the jungle. Examples for these include coffee, regional varients of @Manafluer, rare metals, and numerous creatures unique to the area. Due to this, Ku'Tou is also a region of incredibly specialized professionals, used to cultivating or harvesting these unique resources. A local governing entity that operates more similarly to a guild handles most of the issues and practices relating to this unique environment - The Commitee of Five Branches. No Terr'ainan has ever responded well to bureaucratic processes and laws, but almost all within the Ku'Tou recognize that the constitutions and lawbooks full of documentation and specific codes exist for good reason - the jungle, and every person's livelihood within, depends on care and respect for it.
Some of the interesting standouts include the following:
- All agricultural businesses are required to send in a submission of their particular produce and product. No two agricultural practices growing the same products can be placed against the other's borders. (Some notable exceptions have been made. This rule is both to prevent conflict between businesses, and to protect unique localized ecosystems.)
- Any living creature larger than 3 chak (roughly 200 kg) must have a permit submitted at least 3 nights before hunting, felling or otherwise harvesting. Violation is not necessarily always punishable, but does always lead to more paperwork. Logging businesses are known to have a constant influx of these permits into region offices.
- Materials harvested from the ground must be supervised at all times by a member of the Earthworn. There exist special loans and applications to provide a working member of the Earthworn for little to no cost to the business, and many Earthworn consider the jobs a vacation from usual duties.
