Dragons
Dragons - the most famous and admirable of the Drakes, yet generally the most reclusive. All have heard the word "dragon", listened to tales of heros fighting them off or searching for their hordes. Yet, dragons are rarely so simple.
Dragons, physiologoically, distance themselves from other drakes by having 6 total limbs, and a Gem. These 6 limbs must all operate, and are usually 4 legs and wings - yet some rare species have given up flight for other capabilities. A Gem, however, is a unique structure to dragons. Usually at the center of a Dragon, from birth, their Gem begins to grow slowly. Despite resembling and being called a Gem, this is an organic structure. Gems allow Dragons advanced manipulation of magic, almost on-par with humans in complexity, and often outdoing them in power. Gems operate as a sort of incredibly powerful Mana Battery, far beyond any created ones in portability and output. It's for this reason, Dragon Gems are incredibly sought-after, and ones from very old dragons are one of the most valuable things in Ealam.
Dragons are also generally smarter and longer-lived then other drakes - their closest competitor being True Wyrms. Some dragons have been said to have lived for over 500 years, though the oldest actually slain a mere 300. Because their seems to be no upper limit on growth for dragons, these alleged half-millenium old dragons may be large beyond even Leviathans.
The final unique piece of dragons is their way of life - most dragons are incredibly sedentary. They spend much of their time sleeping and resting, especially older dragons. This does lead to one of their more famous habits - being incredibly regular with when they might interact with humanoid settlements. However, despite their reputation, dragons rarely want to fight humans, and (most) dragons have no actual obsession with gold or hoards. They would much rather hunt large, slow creatures that could provide them with much sustenence, or concentrated hordes. They are also omnivourous - however, humanoids often keep livestock and grow large amounts of food, and herders and farmers often have even more distaste for dragons.
