54: Liberate the Truth
General Summary
The group makes their way into Calodros and finds Halwin, a former researcher at the Orrerrium. Halwin is motivated to work against Morgard as retribution for casting him out and is intrigued by the party's desire to illuminate the truth about Morgard's goals. Halwin argues that the Red Star and access to other planes are related. Communing with Mnemothos confirms that Morgard's sponsors are seeking access to infernal planes. Together, the group will go through the sewers and proactively disrupt any setup the Morgardians may have in place.
As they traverse the sewers, they fight pass some soldiers who are guarding a restricted area. Making their way through, some notice a shift in the veil between the planes and other strange presences. In a large room with a deep pit that emanates a red glow, fiends are gathered on platforms overlooking it while a tiefling caster works on an incantation. The group starts fighting to stop the ritual. Garin tries to call upon his rage, stemming from the trapped spirit of Thalgannath within himself, but the demon refuses to assist.
