Qal
Qal is a Half-orc sailor who was first mate and briefly captain of the Porpoise/Tortoise.

thought to be the sole survivor of an attempt to sail to Xhuveria, losing the entire crew and barely steering the ship away from the Screaming Tempest
joined with the party to repair the ship, recruit shiphands and fill officer positions. through Qal's skill and the party's arcane skills and determination, together they reached Xhuveria.
Qal was repeatedly referred to as a 'Storm Blood', learning that a specific lineage of orcish blood had the capacity to commune with and control the Screaming Tempest. Qal has had unexplained instances of feeling static and connections with inclement weather, including hearing a voices while traversing the storm
Her desire to be reunited with the former crew animated Qal, especially with Duncan.
Qal successfully defended her former crew's escape from Ojitze during a fire giant attack and was able to join the others. Sailed back with everyone to Forthhaven, but remains with unanswered questions about her connection to the storm. Ataraxia did share a divined answer from her deity that Qal was not a direct relation of current Storm Caller in Auluku.

Sometimes, an electric static seems to run across Qal's skin. She also claims to have heard voices while traversing the storm.

Personal history
Qal was the first mate of the then called Porpoise. She and her crew attempted to sail to Xhuveria, but came into the living storm surrounding it. Qal could make it back to Forthhaven on a nearly destroyed ship, though the rest of her crew was gone.
On 16 Orult 412 ERS, Qal met a group of adventurers who convinced her to take them to Xhuveria. Though it required some convincing, she warmed up to the party as they helped her fix the Porpoise (re-christening it to the Tortoise) and prepare for the journey ahead.
Again, Qal experienced the terrifying living storm known as the Screaming Tempest, but together with her new crew, she made it through and set foot on Xhuveria. In the city of Auluku,

Qal and her former crew were eventually reunited, and after helping the adventurers in dealing with fire giants, they returned with her to Forthhaven. As of 25 Stisom 412 ERS, her last known location is somewhere in the Whalestone Bay.
Mental Trauma
Convinced that her crew had died, Qal sought escape in liquor and nihilism. Even though is now once again united with them, the mental scar of going through that will not heal easily, and Qal does everything in her might to not lose her fellow sailors again.
