53: No Boom Boom

General Summary

The party heads to an outskirt of Calodros known as Mill-Town to find leads about a resistance movement against Morgard. Qal joins and together they spot covert symbols of the resistance known as the 'True Star' and receive an invitation to a tavern later that night. In the meantime, they determine that the common folk seem resigned and disinterested in who rules Calodros, suggesting that the previous rule did not benefit them either. There seems to be limited awareness that Morgard had employed otherworldly means in their conquest.

That evening at their rendezvous, the party meets Vereena Pembroke, who as the 'Nightingale', has been causing trouble for the Morgardian occupying forces. Also at the meeting are a halfling woman and dwarf man who the party has run into in Port Maredun. As they group shares information, Navy spies on the dwarf and discovers he's a Morgardian spy. Kidnapping the halfling accomplice, they race across the town. They learn from the halfling that Morgard considers them to be high-value targets, especially after their heist in Port Maredun. Vereena suggests meeting a former keeper of the Orrerium, the famous observatory in Calodros, as she believes Morgard's sudden interest in the stars may better implicate Morgard and their use of otherworldly powers.
