34: Bloodshed

General Summary

After their encounter with the Broker, the party catches their breath in the abandoned house. Ataraxia calls upon Mnemothos to make the blood she promised to the Broker unusable. Her prayers are heard, but the cleric also hears a strange female voice speak in Infernal in her head.
Meanwhile, Garin is at the Brisburg Barracks and talks to Keldan about his apparent deference to the Broker and plans for the Grey Company. Keldan confirms the Broker played a role in providing a second chance at greatness. Garin will accompany Keldan to Morgard to better understand their ambitions and capacities. While sleeping in his chambers, Garin dreams and speaks to a shadowy entity calling itself Thalgannath who promises great power in exchange for hunting devils wherever they find them. Garin agrees to the deal. Waking from his dream, he hears the name, "Yeenoghu," chanted in the distance and finds his prosthetic arm enveloped by flesh and nerves. Garin covers his arm as Keldan knocks at his door to announce their plans to travel to Morgard have changed.
The party prepares for the meeting at dawn. Navy puts a Geas spell on Constance, which hampers her use of magic for a month. Ahriman and Vincent scout out the meeting spot, while Navy picks up the mounts. Eventually, the party gathers meets Garin, Keldan and the Broker. The exchange is made: Garin is returned to the party and Commander Vereena Pembroke's presence last night remains secret for the return of Constance and a vial of Ataraxia's blood. The party leaves Brisburg and rides north to the Rivergate Cloister.
Archivist Caitlin welcomes the majority of the party, noting some new faces. She has a tense exchange with Ataraxia about the implications of recent events, and continues withholding detailed information regarding "Valokan" and leads regarding the Dead King. Archivist Caitlin is briefly captivated by Parvana as a representative of her druidic order in the Woven Forest, but becomes hostile upon hearing the cleric communing with Mnemothos. Considering the mismatch of outlooks, the party thanks the Archivist for her hospitality and leaves.
The group decides to ride for Nightstone to meet Harshnag. After a few days of travel, the group meets with Dunclaigh and other villagers. The town seems to be doing well, reconstruction after the Attack on Nightstone completed and profiting from the bog iron found in the Trollfen.
In the evening, Harshnag shares with the party his journey to the Hallowed Halls of the Oracle. He was unable to understand the Oracle and was also attacked by strange shadowy creatures. It seems to him that this is all related to Iymrith and whatever vile plans she is up to. The party and Harshnag discuss the implications of her possessing a Conch of Teleportation and the still missing King Hekaton.
