05: Giant Problems
General Summary
The party is spending the night in the Trollfen. Ahriman dreams include the quori Ilmarinen which inhabits him, but this time a strange woman is seen walking through the dreamscape. The next morning, the same woman approaches the party in person, accompanied by two trolls. She introduces herself as Auntie Olga, her two trolls as Wild Rob and Big Ed and invites the party to her home. The party is cautious around her, even as she provides information about fire giant sightings in the Trollfen. Auntie Olga promises not to harm her guests, as she and her hut seem to be enveloped in very strong magic.
Auntie Olga offers to share the locations of bog iron deposits in exchange for her assistance in investigating why the fire giants have arrived in the Trollfen and attacked Nightstone . She also hands over a rag doll which should be given to a child as part of the agreement. Her trolls will accompany the party to offer assistance.
The fire giants are reportedly using a special rod to dig for the remnants of a 'titan'. The party travels to the fire giant camp, which is also a dig site with enslaved trolls. As they get discovered, a blue-skinned giant who declares himself to be Harshnag is seen already fighting other fire giants and creates a diversion. The party manages to investigate the camp, steals various documents, maps and a metallic cylinder with giant runes. However, they're chased out by more fire giants. Plarg is killed, as well as one of the trolls who accompanied them while trying to free the enslaved trolls.
