Plarg
Overview
Plarg is one of the Goblins who attacked the party outside Nightstone. For reasons of self-preservation, he offered to serve the party after the rest of the goblins were defeated. He goes on to lead the party to the Dripping Caverns, joins them as they take time to help Nightstone and accompanies them to the Trollfen. He acts as a scout, although is temporarily captured and polymorphed by Auntie Olga. Plargh died in an attack by fire giants, assisting the party.
Timeline
On 4 Nhal, 412 ERS, (Session 02: Dripping Caverns), the party traveled from Nightstone to search for the villagers who took refuge in the Dripping Caverns. Following the Cem River, the party was ambushed by goblins and Plarg was the only survivor to not run away. The goblin asked to assist the group, openly recognizing that the party was stronger than the former goblin leader "Girk" and the current hobgoblin leader Swiftarm. Plarg readily shares details about the goblins in the area and their recent orders to take refugees as Swiftarm's prisoners and killing (and subsequently eating) those who resisted. Ahriman agreed to have Plarg in his charge. The next day, Plarg leads the group to the Dripping Caverns where the goblin seemingly betrays the group by alerting Swiftarm's sentries and entering the cave.Within the cave in Session 03 (Swiftarm's Swift Demise), Plarg was discovered to have ran ahead of the party, who fought their way through the cave, to join the other goblins in securing the villagers. Upon arrival, the party 'thanked' Plarg for leading them to the Dripping Caverns in full view of the leader Swiftarm. Plarg is knocked unconscious during the fight where the leader is defeated and the villagers are freed. He is kept unconscious as he's brought back to Nightstone by the party, who give him one last chance to be cooperative and not betray them. Plarg accepts as clearly the Nightstone villagers do not want any association with the goblin.
Over the next three weeks (Session 04: Fans of the Trollfen), Plarg stays mostly with Ahriman as he helps the village and a particular halfling family rebuild after the Attack on Nightstone. The party decides to head to the Trollfen to search for bog iron and during a night watch with Ahriman, Plarg notices a fire in the distance and goes to scout it. However, Plarg does not return.
The next day, 28 Nhal, 412 ERS, it's revealed (Session 05: Giant Problems) that Plarg inadvertently got close to some fire giants. Auntie Olga decided to turn Plarg into a parakeet and stow him away, lest he cause trouble. Upon Ahriman's request, the spell was released. Plarg was tasked with holding a doll given to them by Auntie Olga in the meantime.
As the party ventured deeper into the Trollfen and the fire giants' camp and excavation site, they unfortunately catch the giants' attention and take measures to facilitate their escape. As one fire giant gets close to the party and Ahriman in particular, Plarg decides to attack the giant, stabbing it. Clearly outmatched, the fire giant stomps and kills Plarg. The party ensures to retrieve the doll from Plarg's remains. For his final actions, he received a mention and prayer in Ataraxia's journal.
