Session 74: A New Road Beckons
General Summary
Morthak introduced us to her new companion Yothtook, a wyvern of the cold persuasion. We were fortunate for their arrival, as with their aid we were able to leave the cave system without having to slowly crawl our way back out of the pit. Atop the spire, it was plain to see that the lizardfolk that had been amassing under Zitonai's rule had begun to scatter. We had hauled Zitonai's head out of the spire with us in order to intimidate the creatures, but it appeared this would not be necessary.
Yothtook began to ferry us down below to the Howling Sands while Sofia attempted to reach out to one of the children of abundance she had made a psychic connection with. She was able to convey some simple messages that we were well and that Zitonai was dead. She had not mentioned our need to find the Oasis Refuge, so it was fortunate when Orin contacted us via Sending to check on our welfare. In short order Voyage was dispatched to bring us back to Refuge. Unable to tranport Yothtook, Morthak arranged for the wyvern to make its own way back to join us.
We were greeted warmly by those at the refuge, and it became apparent that some, including Mylla, had thought they would never see us again. After the frantic events of recent days the group was struck with an abundance of time to stop and process the recent events, reflect on their lives, and consider their future together. Morthak and Skulk commiserated over losing Mylla to this place; while Morthak and Sofia bonded over learning about one another’s past.
As the group gathered after the evening meal, talk turned to the future before us. After some discussion, it appeared the City of Cloth would be our target, in the hopes of gaining knowledge of what is to come with regards to both the return of the dragons and the dark point in the night sky. And from there, perhaps a visit to the Ashpeaks to visit with Morthak’s tribe and speak to the mountain in the hopes that it may have a greater understanding of the portents revealed to us.
