Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Moon Moon Elven buildings and cities are places of magic. Moon Elves have the luxury of time and arcane power to create perfection, and that is reflected in their structures. Buildings are usually shaped from marble or crystal using magic (in stark contrast to the construction of other races, no bricks are used). Lighting is provided from driftglobes and continual flames, clean water from magical sources, and magically bound elementals and creatures act as servants. Each of the magical effects can last long after the building is no longer in use, although this magic can twist and tear over time, making ancient Elven ruins dangerous. The structures are timelessly beautiful, and their magical power often gives them an ethereal quality.
All Moon Elves have a natural connection to the arcane, allowing them to do simple tasks through the use of magic, where other races may use specific skills or tools. For instance, many Moon Elves use prestidigitation to wash themselves and clean their buildings, or use light instead of torches. Due to the common use of prestidigitation and mending, Moon Elven clothes and gear are always in near pristine condition. Moon Elves typically infuse this arcane magic into their other skills and talents. Many Elven warriors combine arcane and martial might, including Arcane Archers, Bladedancers, and Eldritch Knights. Magic is regularly infused into their craftwork as well. Given their long lifespans, it is also easier for Moon Elves to dedicate the necessary time to create magic items. This use of magic can create competition when Elves resettle in to the communities of other races, particularly Humans - a single Elven tailor using mending can outperform a small number of tailors without magic.
History
Moon Elves are sometimes considered to be the fathers of civilization through the Mithral Empire. However, the current state of their nations are far less grand. Over seventy years ago, the Moon Elven nation launched The War of Elven Legacy against the Atathian Empire, hoping to restore the glory of old. The Moon Elves were defeated, with their realms annexed into the Atathian Empire as the Elven Annex.
