Dwarf

The Dwarves primarily live in the Hjalgrim Kingdom on the Northern Continent. Many live in human cities around the world, well-regarded for their craftsmanship. Many Dwarves worship Absyun, the Justice of the Heavens.   The ancestral enemies of the Dwarves are the Duergar, a race of Dwarves corrupted by Kirbarir and the Underdark.

Civilization and Culture

History

Most Dwarves live in the Hjalgrim Kingdom, located on the Northern Continent. These Dwarves live as part of a Clanhold, and highly prize the concept of honor as part of their traditional lifestyles.  Clanhold Dwarves who leave their homeland do so in service to their clan to forge new trade deals or alliances, fight a common foe, or to seek out lost clanholds.   Dwarves who act dishonorably are exiled from their Clan. They are tattooed, branded, or otherwise visibly and permanently marked as exiles. These exiles are unwelcome in Dwarven lands, and typically find their way to Human settlements. Marked exiles often have a poor reputation as criminals even in Human lands. Some fugitives manage to escape their Clanhold without being marked as an exile.   Over time, communities of dwarves in human cities have grown over time from exiles, their descendants, and dwarves who have lost their Clanhold. These dwarven exclaves can be found in the Atathian Empire, Solland, and the Trading Coalition. Acqua Draconis has a particularly large Dwarven population, the descendants of Dwarven refugees who came to the city centuries ago.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Dwarves generally have positive relationships with Humans. They bear their ancient rivalry with Giants. The worst enemy of the Dwarves are the Duergar, who betrayed the Kingdom and the Clans. Dwarves consider Kobolds to be vermin and pests.
