The Decent Beneath the Throne
The Descent Beneath the Throne
The Descent Beneath the Throne marks a critical turning point in the party’s ongoing saga. Following their harrowing encounter with the Princess of Shadow Glass, the adventurers, now regrouped, found themselves drawn into a deeper mystery hidden within the depths of the ruined dwarven keep. This descent would lead them to lost secrets, mechanical monstrosities, and a revelation that could reshape their fate.
Discovery of the Hidden Stairwell
While in the great chamber of the ruined keep, Fjord felt an inexplicable pull towards the throne of Bizzo, the goblin warlord. With an amicable handshake, Fjord lifted Bizzo from his seat, causing ancient runes to glow with white-hot intensity. The chamber trembled, and with the grinding of stone, the throne slid back to reveal a hidden stairwell descending into darkness. Without hesitation, the party ventured downward, eager to uncover the mysteries that lay below.
The Gremlin’s Trap
At the bottom of the stairwell, the party entered a vast cavern where a lone gremlin rummaged through a pile of debris. Before they could react, a portcullis slammed down behind them, sealing their only exit. With a gleeful cackle, the gremlin activated the pile of debris, revealing it to be a colossal mechanical construct, a golem of dwarven design.
The adventurers immediately sprang into action:
- Jember illuminated the construct with faerie fire, exposing its weak points.
- Olaf summoned his spiritual guardians, spectral warriors that harried the construct’s movements.
- Zeromus misty-stepped onto the golem, frantically searching for a means to disable it.
- Fjord entered a rage, bringing his warpick down upon the construct with ferocious intensity.
- Gregory launched eldritch blasts, attempting to weaken its joints from below.
Despite their best efforts, the golem proved formidable. It lashed out, knocking Zeromus from its shoulders. As he tumbled to the ground, he shouted for one of the dwarves to climb atop the construct, believing there to be a hatch leading to its power source.
Disabling the Golem
Heeding Zeromus’s call, Fjord scaled the construct, clambering onto its back as the battle raged below. He found a glass capsule embedded in its core, pulsating with arcane energy. With a mighty strike, he shattered the capsule, causing the golem to convulse violently before collapsing into a heap of inert metal.
