The Woods of Lost Souls

The Woods of Lost Souls, originally known as the Eastern Wood, is a large forest along the southestern coast of Emaul. Despite being a potentially significant source of lumbar, the forest remains mostly untouched, mostly due to the large amount of hostile and hazardous plant and animal life, combined with an equally large number of spectres, spirits, and vengeful entities.
It is largely believed that the corruption and evil spirits are the result of the War Against Orcish Aggression, which took place over 200 years ago and stained the land with blood and carcasses. King Draven, first of the emperors of the Dravenforth Empire, fought in a noble crusade against Orcish marauders, and despite suffering massive casualties managed to secure a victory, causing the Orcs to retreat and eventually disband.
While large-scale logging cannot occur, there are smaller excursions that often take place in the Woods. From rare plants, flowers and herbs to rewards for various monsters and rumors of treasure, there is fortune to be had in the Woods of Lost Souls, if one is brave enough to venture forth.
