Anton Russo

Current Governor of the Marstoli Commonwealth. Anton Russo is a human man in his late eighties, and is the great-great-grandson of Giovanni Russo and maintains his legacy and civil popularity.
Anton stepped into power at the age of 23, making him the youngest Governor without an acting regent. Notable accomplishments have included fulfilling his great-grandfather's initiative of eliminating the national debt, settling salt-mining rights in the Azurali Sea with the Selenavi Republic to maintain Marstoli-controlled salt export, and expanding the Commonwealth to include the city of Folran, which had long been a self-governed settlement. The acquisition of Folran has put strain on the relationship with the Selanavi Republic, with Annalise Feywine accusing Anton of colonialization and calling the expansion of power an act of aggression and intimidation.
Anton is known as a soft-spoken and shrewd man. He has a reputation of slow, deliberate speech and decision-making that is methodical to the point of aggravation. That said, his methods have proven beneficial to the Commonwealth, and even in his waning years he is very popular.
As he does not have a living heir, Anton is expected to announce a successor soon, officially transitioning the stewardship of the Commonwealth to a new family for the foreseeable future. While there is excitement, there is also an anxious undertone as people in both the Marstoli Commonwealth and the Selenavi Republic wonder at who the new regents will be, and if the overwhelming popularity and success of the Russo family will be matched or forgotten under their rule.
