Age of Destiny

by Morgan Kauffman

And so we come to the present Age, when the gods once more speak to mortals. But instead of guidance, they offer a challenge, delivered by the priests of Azboran across the world in the loudest and clearest divine message in a millenium.

Rise, our children, and show us what you believe. No heroes shall be exalted by our hand in this Age, nor prophets or kings; instead, we shall let mortal hands guide the mortal world, and offer our favor to those who shine the brightest. Bring to us the fruits of your passion and dedication; give us offerings of your will and intent; should your efforts prove worthy, we shall gift you the power to pursue them further, to shape the world into what you see fit.
Azboran 's proclamation of the Age of Destiny

The gods have chosen to step back, but not to be silent. Each gazes upon the world, watching mortals strive against and alongside one another; those whose actions appeal to a god may find themselves blessed with that deity’s favor, or granted an audience to demonstrate their intent and capability. No one mortal shall be blessed in this way, nor an entire land; rather than choosing a single hero, prophet, or king to enact change upon the world, the gods are now intent on granting favor to many small groups and organizations, spreading their power broadly in the hopes that some might succeed.

In this our current Age the gods have handed over the reins of fate to mortals. We can set our own course, and with the gods’ blessing we might bring forth the change we wish to see in the world. All that is necessary is the courage and wit to act, and those brave few shall be able to steer this Age of Destiny to a new and wondrous destination.
