Session 4

General Summary

On the morning of the 5th of Juhd'Hon, Yemaja escorted the trio to the edge of Antiek'Vee Forest. Should she acquire any vital information, she will be sure to contact them.   The moment the Widow left the clutches of the Forest, a familiar warm, almost overbearing presence was quick to make itself known. Rani and Newt bonded over their mutual concern for The Widow's sanity.   Crossing over the King'Ora River, a familiar air genasi teenager had set up his easel to best capture the scenic views of the forest. Nearby, an unfamiliar woman with a pixie cut of white hair and dressed in poorly-fitted chain mail was bent over a cooking pot filled with mushrooms (commandeered from Zephus' own stash). Here in search of her place in fate, Moira encountered Zephus and misjudged the boy's situation - unaware of his status as "functioning drug addict". After yeeting his most recent masterpiece in the river, the party finally made their way into the town.   With the Great Hunt now over, the locals have gone back to their regular routines, with the exception of a larger guard presence situated around the Temple and Oshozi's Hold. Newt noticed familiar gray robes being escorted by an unfamiliar figure. Having recently returned from two of the clans, Namiya is here to deliver her report to the priests of Oshozi. Sidon, her unexpected escort, was inspired to seek his own adventure by an old adventuring friend of his. Before slipping into the Temple, Namiya gifted Newt a pair of black boots - though she knows he won't wear them.   While in town, a handful of letters were delivered. A faint spectral figure slapped The Widow upside the head, delivering a note with some requests. A black raven with glowing black eyes passed a note to Newt before releasing a squawk and vanishing into the air. Unlike some people, Rani's employer saw it fit to deliver her letter via normal means: a simple courier.   Having attempted to contact someone to handle Zephus' desire to go anywhere but back home, Rani found a book on the history of the shifter clans as a gift and stumbled across a peculiar map case that appeared to interact oddly with her map. Being slightly low on funds, she requested monetary assistance from her employer - for research of course! Moira and Sidon enjoyed some food from Cheese & Quackers. Moira was thrilled with her haggling abilities to gain a small jar of Golden Spice, an imported item from the volcanic island of Therarask. The Widow spent most of his time running back and forth between Anonymoose (to get a barrel) and Wolf Pack Essential's. While the others shopped, Newt enjoyed some time conversing with Namiya, catching up on the industrial city.   Again, the party - having named themselves The Deep End - embarked into the Forest. About half a day outside of Magaso'Fa, the party was hit by a wave of energy that was gone as quickly as it came.   The clan settlement of Magaso'Fa can hardly be considered a settlement. Composed of rundown buildings, a make-shift tent "market", and a shoddy imitation of the Temple of Oshozi in Oshiv'Ran, it is clear that this group of shifters are not strangers to hardship. Entering into town (The Widow receiving many odd looks for the barrel), a handful of rumors caught your attention:
  1. A group of young children were talking about how delusional another boy was for claiming he saw a pirate ship.
  2. Two older shifters remarked that they believe the tremors are a sign that a giant beast is coming.
  3. A couple discussed that some of the teenagers appear to be acting shady, running around at night.
  4. Two shifters in the market discussed how Shaman Umak met with a strange woman at night.
Rani and Newt spear-headed the confrontation with the Shaman, with The Widow arriving late after having been abandoned with his barrel. Believing they had finally got the truth out of the shaman, Moira caught the lie. Eventually, the party managed to convince the shaman that he had made a mistake in making any form of an arrangement with the "Lady of the Night" and that the party only had his clan's interests at heart. He revealed the entrance to the old foraging tunnels.   Descending into the darkness, the party discovered that some new machinery has been moved into the tunnels. A large, bulky box with fluid tanks and lights appeared to power a levitating skiff floating above tracks. After pressing the green button, the party rocketed downward into a dark tunnel with three of the members struggling to hold onto their lunches.   They easily dispatched the welcoming party, convincing the goblins to guard their rear in exchange for some gold - much of which they looted off the fallen shifters. Navigating through the tunnels, the party followed odd tracks from some large, monstrous machine, encountered another mechanical box with fluid and blinking lights, and walked past multiple shattered crystals, one of which had an old symbol of Oshozi on it.   After looting a small group of side rooms (No, Newt isn't a thief, what are you talking about?), the party stumbled across a familiar figure enshrouded in metal as she attempted to shatter a glowing, white crystal in the ground. Quickly, the Heel of Varoona decided to leave, knocking down The Widow and Sidon on her way out. Easily dispatching the rest the mage and the guards, the party reported their findings to Umak who begged them to plead his case to the shifter council.   Bedding down for the night, Rani noticed a shy groups of bees who immediately swarmed her upon the offering of sugar water. Alhaya appears to be incredibly pleased to have her army at her back. Almawt then escorted in a proud army of locusts.   The Widow's dream seemed a bit more real than the others... and Therarask was quite pleased to see the mortal he made a deal with. Do come visit, won't you?

Rewards Granted

  1. A total of 205 looted gold
  2. A slightly worn, magical pair of black boots that are quite comfortable.
  3. An Ankh attached to a necklace with "To Olivantha, love mom" engraved in Quori.

  5. A letter written in an unknown language, stamped with the symbol of a female silhouette with long silver hair and glowing purple eyes.
  6. A book written in gibberish... gibberish that matches the diary in Rani's possession.
  7. One of a pair of sending stones
  8. A magical magnifying glass

Missions/Quests Completed

Per the High Priests's request, you travelled to Magaso'Fa and investigated the current happenings. It appears that the clan - due to the Shaman's decisions - was harboring one of the two assassins sent after the High Priest. You've successfully verified the "safety" of their clan.   Request: Umak, in light of what was uncovered, has pleaded with you to take his case to the shifter council in hopes of swaying the council towards re-integration. Perhaps it isn't too late to mend the wounds of the past.
