Under Common

A strange language, not spoken by many, known as the 'merchant's tongue', Under Common was developed from the Dwarven preference to speak Common over their own native language. Under Common was the first mixed language to develop, being in relatively wide use amongst the Dwarves by as early as 500 CA. Interestingly enough, the Code of Fire & Stone, the most significant and widely read piece of Dwarven literature was originally written in Under Common, as the author, First Sage Mudran Steelborn, preferred the language and believed that it would help to make the reception of his philosophy easier to consume by the less educated Dwarves of the time. Many merchant's and craftsmen have a varying understanding of this language, to help in their dealings with the Dwarven people.
