Des Character in Dread Realms (Ravenloft) | World Anvil

Des

Des

Descoperi, typically known as "Des", was born to Eigo and a woman that was from Krezk. His mother died in child birth and so he never met her. His father was a woodsmen that was brought here from Waterdeep. It has always been assumed that Count Strahd, "Fang Face" was the one that brought him here.   Eigo would bring Des books as he was able to obtain them for the purpose of educating his son as best as he could. They resided in a log cabin within the woods and typically avoided the townships as long as they didn't need to venture there. The Barovians were not the most welcoming to them as Eigo worked for Count Strahd and, in their eyes, seemed demonic for the obvious reasons.   As Descoperi grew older he became in love with histories, artifacts, and such. It did not take him long to find his path, both as a rogue, and a self proclaimed archaeologist.

!6 Tizedek   We failed to stop the ritual we needed to. Unsure what the ramifications will be. We returned to our estate and surprise surprise we get a dinner invite from the Bergermeister. We all attanded and can't believe the gaul of this trash! His people are running out of food and here he is throwing a big feast for us just to offer us a job with really lousy pay while his people are running out of food. While everyone was eating and be nice to the scum and Strauds tax collectors, a villager rush in and tells us that all the sheep that were put aside for Straud have all been slaughtered. Everyone rushes to check it out, arriving at the pens and meeting a nice young man named Luca who the Bergermeister was intent on blaming the slaughter. I couldn't take the bastards crap anymore and finally decided to take him out. It started a fight with the 2 tax collectors also but I didn't care, he had to die!

The Seer

7 Tizedik,   It's been a interesting 4 days. I started with getting flung accross the room after removing Loviatar's symbol which hurt. I've grown accustomed to the feelings and memories that have been awakened or bonded to me (which one it is I'm not sure.) that day I found that box buried by the river but the strength of the repulsive feeling that happened when I looked at that symbol surprised me. We got word that the Vistani could help us interrupt the vision we got earlier in the Falinescu Manor and were told where a group was camped. We arrived just a few hours later and just like usual they want something in return for their help. Turns out there's a love triangle happening between the Bogarav family who's son or whatever he was is engaged with a girl from the other clan who run off with a Vistani outcast. We got to the other clan and found the girl has been missing for a day or so. Feyre, Driver, and myself went to check her wagons for clues. For some reason I felt the urge to close the door as soon as I passed it. We found a few clues but the biggest one was hidden under the cot sheet was a bed of dirt which did appear freshly disturbed. I have a suspicion of whats happened to her but I'm not sure if I should say it. The 3 of us excited and once again I closed the door behind me, what is up with this urge?! We reported the results of our investigation but they seem to have a problem with denial. So our group followed the pair of tracks leading away from the camp and were led to a stone alter with a guy tied to the stone table and surprise surprise my suspicions were correct. The girl we were sent to find and help is a VAMPIRE! Not sure what ritual she was trying to do but we killed her and saved the outcast. The girls clan was too accepting of her being turned into a vampire but were happy we "freed" her from her curse. We returned to the Bogarav family told them everything took part in a big party. I think our newest member Tyberon the Firbolg is married to the dancing girl from the celebration. The next morning with a hangover we were told that one of the males of the clan disappeared and were asked to find him. While out looking for him stumbled upon a group of Elves who were pulled here along with a good portion of their land by the Myst that takes us all. We helped them find their missing hunters and the Vistani man we were looking for in a BIG spiders nest. We lost 2 of the elves but saved 2 others and the Vistani, said our farewells and followed the man to a seer who like everyone else wanted something in return. We took care of the Seer's problem and I asked her about my mother. If she's still among us and where she is! Oh yeah before we headed home I found out that that BITCH Loviatar cursed me! We got some free time for now and I'm gonna explore our estate and land for any more secrets. After taking care of Loviatar's symbol and getting cursed I don't wanna be surprised by something left in our new home.

Orasnou

Things have gotten interesting. Margo and myself got pulled into Strahd's mist to the village of Orasnou. Where we met other victims like ourselves. A lizard woman named Rupta, cleric of the Morninglord who for some reason the way she calls upon his name makes me feel uneasy, not a bad or evil uneasy but like the kind you get when it's embarrasing. Fayre, a human wizard (OBSERVATION- Fayre seems intent on making her looks for some reason, constantly checks her ears.), she appears to have moderate anxiety to where she has a pet or familiar (unsure which) who helps calm her down. Then there's Iangrim, gnome miner with arcane mechanical skill (OBERVATION- Likes to twirl explosives. Most likely wants to go out in a bang then by fang.) Many things happened at once, from meeting the burgomaster who seems to be just as bad as the Villaki's one that ordered my horns snapped off cause a sickness was going through town and they blamed me. The true cause was a necromancer who they killed and ended the sickness but I was never given a apology too. The Burgomaster was quick to hire us to investigate the strange occurances in the Quivering Forest. Like usual rumors run rampant on who is behind it but we'll find out soon enough. On our way out we met a Gregori who was caring for a silver furred wolf pup that he found tied to his porch a few days ago. We make it to the forest to discover a camp site with bodies torn up all around it. Inspecting the bodies we found evidence of canine bite marks (Observation- Bite marks appeared larger then normal). Searching one body I found a silver dagger which to my knowledge is mainly useful against certain undead- mainly the vampiristic kind. While in the camp a trio of elves from a local village walked up to us and shared some information of a lycanthrope running wild (Note: They were withholding some information but yet who doesn't here). Sending the elves to Orasnou telling to be a little more cautious after getting there, they helped us find a set of VERY large paw prints leading away from the campsite. Part way following them the paws became humanoid leading to a cave. Looking inside the cave we saw a half-naked woman covered and blood named Alina, 1 of 2 local trapper we were sent to find. Turns out it was her and Lazlo (the other trapper) who attacked the campsite. Upon further questioning Alina was getting more and more agitated shifted into a werewolf and attacked us. We were able to subdue and get her to shift back to her human form. We assured her that we'll get her help with her curse once we get back to the village. After arriving back to the village and giving a full report of Lazlo and Alina, he promised to get her the help she needs. Shortly after leaving the mansion the Burgomaster is on the roof and gathers the villagers. I got a very very bad feeling was proven right when we saw them push Alina on the roof with a noose around her neck. Him yelling that the moon cursed her (absolutely ridiculous) pushed her off and killed her. I have never felt such a desire to kill a man before like I did at this moment!

Beginning

Whoever said "Life is hard! must have visited Borovia, especially for us non-humans. Being born to Eigo the tiefling woodsman from Waterdeep and a woman in the Village of Krezk, who for some reason my dad won't tell me her name but told me she gave me to him to save my life. My dad built us a camp in the woods to raise me . The people in the villages weren't mean to us but not exactly welcoming either since dad was still "working" for Fang Face. He made sure to give me as good a education as he could, bringing me whatever books he could find. Thanks to one of the books dad gave me, I fell in love the idea of exploring and learning of long past cultures and this land is full of lost things. Due to my father being gone doing work for "Fang Face" I'm left alone to my own devices which mean I mainly explore abandoned or forgotten locations and if I find anything that peaks my interests I take home to store in our cellar to research later. At 20 while checking possible sites to explore and my father was off again on a trip to Castle Ravenloft, I traveled for along the Luna River several hours eventually losing track of time. Eventually moving southernly along the river with the Svalich Woods east of me, occasionally eyeing the woods, wondering what might be lurking beyond hiding in the shadows. I come to a place where the river splits into 2 branches and spot a small island in the middle. While contemplating the next leg, I noticed a glint of light reflect off a small piece of metal kicked up by my footsteps, a strange shaped copper coin(Baldur Gate). Obviously not a coin used in Barovia that I'm aware of. Curious of what other objects I might find I decide to set up camp and make this my dig site. After a couple days of careful digging and watching for the usual predators, I find 3 more of the strange coins, a small plain stone box no bigger then the palm of my hand. Examining the box carefully, I find the seam and slightly open it not prepared to find black mists swirling on the inside only to move and reveal a small charm in the shape of the rising sun. As I examine the charm more closely without touching it I start to feel a sensation that can only be discribed as mild shock, taking slow breaths hoping to shake off the feeling it only started to grow more and more intense. Soon what can only be discribed as some dark fingers feelings of ice cold digging into my my very mind begin. I tried to scream just hoping to get some relief from the alien touch but no success as my body refused to make a sound. Soon a presence(Eldritch) pushes its way into my consciousness with a feeling threatening to overwhelm me with it sheer power and dread. Out of nowhere the pressure eases and the clear, cold, alien sensation forms into a memory, one I stood no hope in ignoring. I see myself as a baby looking into the face of a beautiful woman. Hair white like mine but a better smoother almost pearl like shade and dull green eye, lustrous long white hair and wearing a necklace around her neck that has the same charm I just found. My eyes snap open unsure when I even closed them or when I started kneeling down at the hole I dug the box out of. The box was in my hand but now on the ground empty but the charm no longer on the chain was now in my right hand! When did I grab it out of the box!?!?! Entry 1! I just got pulled into Fang Face's mist while checking out a possible excavation site. Don't know why he has such a hard on for the members of my family but luckily my trusty mule Margo got pulled with me to the town of Orasnou.
