State of the 'Verse

The purpose of this page is to give roleplayers an understanding of the current events in the universe and to provide useful prompts and setting information to help inspire their ideas and create a cohesive, interconnected narrative universe between the many different characters, and their journeys in the universe on the CHAT channel.

A Broken Alliance

The events of the last roleplay age left many scars upon the already brittle alliance between Icerian Empire of Ng Yelo (Furiza) and the Earth Sphere, and at last the peace that was brokered has shattered. While no outright conflict has come to pass, there is a mutual distrust between the galactic nations and hard feelings regarding many of the enterprises that they jointly invested in. One such matter is the occupation of the Zeon VII, one of the Alliance's more entrenched projects. In addition, many sectors of the galactic perimeter lie in flux as each galactic nation attempts to absorb as much territory as possible. Without the combined strength and wealth of both Earth and the Icerian Empire however, this conquest has left many sub-worlds lacking vital resources, setting the stage for a number of revolutions as well as footholds for outlaws, space pirates, and other unsavory mercenary groups to take control.

Aftermath of VENOM

No planet suffered more duress and calamity in the final days of the last age than Earth when the mysterious VENOM army attacked the world on several fronts. Sowing destruction, chaos and unrest as well as leaving many cities damaged and the Earth Defense Force sorely wounded. While several leaders of the VENOM army were slain, their leader Gadax Renn, and a handful of his lieutenants are still active, but their whereabouts are unknown. Many believe they've left Earth, while others think that they may simply be biding their time. Regardless they are powerful pieces in the game of galactic power, and no one knows when or where they will surface next.   UPDATE (05/08/2020) -- After a stinging defeat in Sector 8 and Makono City by the defenders of Earth (Lye, Nova, Koda, Indon, Luther, and Taako), VENOM's forces in the southern reaches of Earth have been crippled and scattered. The EDF has mobilized and dismantled their bases in the Cloud Forest as well as captured many VENOM agents who had attempted to flee the planet. Life on Earth is slowly returning to normal, and while the threat of VENOM still remains in the future, a time of peace and rebuilding has begun. The Earth is in desperate need of heroes, and with the fall of Korin's Tower and it's empty Lookout high above, some believe that the forces that might have once guided those towards the Earth's protection have long abandoned the world.

Rise of a New Empire

With the end of the Alliance, the Icerian Empire has found itself searching for a new identity, or perhaps (more accurately) an old one. The Icers of Ng Yelo, having recovered from the grievous wounds afflicted to them in the preceding ages, have risen again as a dominate military power, and the people of Ng Yelo had rallied behind the call for a more conservative, and conquering state reminiscent of 'glorious' bygone eras. This had made the Western Galaxy quite a brutal sector of the universe that is hostile towards outsiders and slowly encroaching upon neighboring galaxies and their way of life. With the appointment of Lord Ymir as the new Emperor after the disposition of Empress Wyndra, it seems inevitable that war may once again rage among the stars as the Icerian assert their position as the conquerers of the universe.   This has left the Empires more closely related allies and sub-worlds in a questioning state. In particular the nobles and aristocracy of Hydia have held many courtly debates about whether this state of affairs serves their people and what, if anything, can be done to levy greater representation (as well as whispers of outright rebellion).

Warlords of the Fringe

After their defeat during the events of the Arlia crisis in the last age the Saiyan warbands of the universe have taken a radical shift in focus. Rather than continued to trudge on as a broken, scattered people, many of the Saiyan clans have joined forces and created strong alliances. Heading towards the fringes of the universe a number of "Warlords" have arisen and begun crusades in these far-flung reaches of the galaxy. While the Saiyans have come to the hard realization that there may never be another homeworld for them after the loss of planet Vegeta, these clans have carved out a sizable empire in a very short amount of time, something that has begun to draw the worried attentions of the other galactic powers.   As the premiere mercenaries of the universe the Saiyans are adept at conquering worlds, and have begun selling the planets they've acquired to any galactic nation to the highest bidders of the galaxy.
