Minka Goldsheaf
(a.k.a. The Blue Squire)
Lightborn babies are a rarity among halfling families, as are children aspiring to become knights. But from the first time Minka heard of the Stellaran Knights she knew it was her destiny to join their ranks. Minka may be short of stature, but she is stout hearted and surprisingly strong. She began "training" as a child, swinging sticks and chasing rabbits to hone her skills as best her little farming community allowed. Once she got a little older she volunteered with Cuppria's rangers, even managing to spend some time learning from the copper dragon, Irrina, who they call the Pathfinder.
Once she was old enough, or at least unable to wait any longer, Minka booked passage on a ship to Miridia. It took some doing but eventually she tracked down the Knight of the Blue Moon, Artur Stillwater. She asked to serve as his squire, a notion he almost dismissed out of hand. But after seeing her lightborn features and testing her raw yet potent abilities, he relented and agreed to take her on. Who was he to question the will of the goddess?
The pair have traveled, trained, and taken on jobs together ever since. Minka aims to inherit the Blue Moon's starforged blade, a tricky endeavor for one of her stature as it happens to be a mighty two handed sword. Still she will not let her size hold her down, adapting her fighting style to wield a rather unusual weapon. She has fashioned together a longsword blade attached to an especially long handle, making it almost a polearm in her hands. This longer grip gives her the leverage required to fight with such a large weapon in comparison to her body. Her unorthodox fighting style and small stature have actually proven rather formidable in combat, probably at least in part because they are so different from what her opponents are used to facing.
Minka embodies everything the Stellaran Knights stand for: doing what is right in the face of adversity, combating evil wherever it might lie, and standing on one's beliefs even when no one else does. She will make an excellent knight, if she manages to survive.
