Deepview Watch

Deepview Watch owes its status as an independent island to several factors, though whether those factors are in its favor or not is difficult to say. First the isle is remote, one of the furthest points from civilization proper in all the Imperium. Next, it is poor. The soil grows little food and the open ocean seas are rough. Those misfortunate enough to call the island home make out meager, cold lives. And last it is the home of the Harbinger and so the seat for Those Who Stare Into the Depths. Deep Seers are generally thought to be a necessity on any ship traveling the open waters of the seas and oceans, to go without would be to invite doom upon a vessel.
So it is that none of the dragonlords feel especially motivated to try to conquer the island. It is too far away, not worth the effort, and risks angering an important, if small group and losing their service indefinitely.
