Ormshire Fort

Ormshire Fort is a vital point of defence between Dorwine and the wild lands beyond. Baron Flavilar Linxakasendalor and her command are responsible for the surrounding land as well as Ormshire Camp.  The current incarnation of the Fort is, in fact, a mighty castle. This was built on top of the old fort 180 years ago.

Entries

• Entrance to the keep is through a mighty set of oak doors set on the ground floor.

Denizens

• The Fort is garrisoned by a mix of veterans of the Ormshire Legion and the Baron’s own personal guard. 

Alterations

Magical wards have been randomly peppered outside the walls of the castles. Anyone setting foot in one of the walls is teleported to a random spot beyond the border.

Architecture

Ormshire Fort sits near a stream that has been diverted to fill a great moat around the castle. Whereas the original fort was wooden, the new fort is entirely constructed of stone, some sourced locally and the rest brought in from the border mountains. The walls are 10ft thick. The keep itself is 3 stories tall with a basement. The fort has a tall, central tower rising above the keep that gives an Awe inspiring view over Dorwine to the north and the borderlands to the South. The tower is always manned by a watcher from the Ormshire Legion. This tower and keep form the rear wall of the castle which has a courtyard surrounded by a wall 30ft high and 20ft thick. There is room inside the walls to muster most of the Ormshire Legion, if required. In the wall opposite the keep stands the barbican with a drawbridge across the moat.
