Dougan’s Quality Horses
Dougan’s Quality Horses sits a little way from the heart of Windmontley Hold. It is the village’s only horse dealer. From the outside Dougan’s is a large pen where the horses for sale are kept during the day and a large barn that serves to stable them by night. The barn also contains a small forge for a farrier and storage for the tack that Dougan’s sells.
The quality of everything in the yard is fair, it’s not up to the standards of Hiford but give the amount of pilgrim traffic Dougan’s can’t afford to have shoddy merchandise either. They also offer the Road Rangers guarantee on horses for an extra 25gp.
Dougan himself is a no-nonsense dwarf. He works as a farrier by trade but has come into horse dealing. He’s not a bargainer by nature and when he makes an offer he will write it down on one of his complimentary wax tablets (which the customer gets to keep) and slide it towards the buyer. And that’s it. Either he’s already made a discount at this point or he hasn’t. This has earned Dougan a tough-but-fair reputation.
