Chirt
Nestled into the foothills of The Three Mountains of Kobjii lies the ancient goblin village of Chirt.
It is based around a huge iron and silver mine which has been worked by a tribe of goblins for centuries. The village itself exists in 2 parts - inside and outside the mountain.
Inside the mountain is where the goblins live and work. Everything is goblin-scale, including the tunnels, homes and businesses. Because this makes it difficult, or impossible for most other creatures (including bugbears and hobgoblins) there is another town which exists outside the mountain. Made up largely of semi-permanent structures it has homes and businesses which cater to the other denizens of the village. Life out here is harder. While it is easier for the goblins to stay safe and warm inside the mine the village outside is far more at risk of wild animal and monster attacks as well as the weather. Regardless there seems to be little resentment because the wealth of the mine flows through the outer village just as well.
Although most of the people of Chirt are friendly to outsiders there is a small cult of worshippers of the goblin God Maglubiyet who openly worship their god in a small shrine on the edge of town. The people of Chirt are also known for a strange superstition: People believe a single magpie is bad luck but saluting a magpie turns the bad luck around into good luck.

Government
Chirt is basically run as an anarcho-syndicalist commune. Every month all eligible (and willing) Chirters put their names in a cauldron and a name is drawn out by the Sheriff. That person is the "Head" and makes all important decisions for the month. Because Chirt is mainly a mining operation and Bottle, the mine manager, makes all those decisions and the Sheriff keeps law and order this anarchic arrangement works fine for the people of Chirt.
There is a large crater-shaped bowl outside the mine where Chirters gather for important meetings, festivals and entertainments. It is here that announcements for the new village head are made.
Defences
There is a small force of goblin guards that protect the interior of the mine. It is easy to defend, however, as a portcullis can be lowered in times of danger. This means that everyone outside needs to fend for themselves.
To protect those on the outside, and enforce law and order there is a squad of 10 "big 'uns" (bugbears). All the defences and law enforcement is handled by the Sheriff. Simply known as "The Sheriff". He is a non nonsense goblin who commands even the respect of the bugbears.
Industry & Trade
Chirt is dominated by its huge mine. Iron and silver come out f the ground on a regular basis and is the reason for the prosperity of the resident goblins.
