Personal history

Elorite historical accounts depict Edmund as originally being the eldest son of struggling farming family, one of many that could barely survive the harsh times of the Age of Dusk.   At age 19 (1 BD), bandits from a neighboring settlement attacked Edmund's village, stealing much of their harvest and killing civilians including Edmund's father and youngest brother. Enraged by their murder, Edmund joined the warriors seeking retribution for what was taken from them. Together, he and the other fighters found and slew the bandits, but while his vengeance had been sated, Edmund saw that the other warriors had not stopped there and began to sack the settlement, stealing crops and attacking civilians. Refusing to lower himself to the level of those that had taken his family, Edmund helped a mother and daughter from the settlement hide and offered to let them work on his family's farm as penance for his involvement.   One year later, the mother and daughter he had saved warned Edmund of another attack from the settlement, this one made up of the survivors from the sacking Edmund had participated in. Edmund alerted his remaining family and told them to flee from the farm. However, instead of fleeing with them, Edmund could not bare to see the cycle of violence that had taken his father and brother from him repeat and rode out to meet the bandits.    Joined by the mother and daughter, Edmund managed to intercept the attack party. A few recognized him from the attack on the settlement and sought to kill him, but their hands were stayed by the daughter's pleas. She spoke of how Edmund had protected her and her mother and gave them a place on his farm after they had lost everything. Bolstered by her words, Edmund was able to talk down the bandits, apologizing for his involvement and offering them trade with his farm.   Word soon spread of what transpired and, seeing Edmund's farm begin to flourish with trade, hostilities between the villages began to ease and the two soon eventually joined to form a town. Edmund, having been appointed by the new town as its leader, named it after the young woman he had saved and had come to marry, Meriden.   For the rest of his life, Edmund would reach out to other villages and farms, asking them to join with his so that they can finally find their way out of the endless Dusk.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Through his diplomatic ventures throughout his life, Edmund was a driving force in ending the Age of Dusk and established what would become the Kingdom of Eloir.

Mental Trauma

Accounts depict that all the way to his death bed, Edmund still felt guilt over his involvement in the sacking of bandits' settlement. Even when later villages and towns attacked and raided his lands, he tried to resolve matters diplomatically and, even he was left with no other choice than mustering soldiers for combat, he decreed that civilians and non-combatants were not to be harmed.
