When your Everybody's Best Friend Report
General Summary
Picking up from Last Game...
The party had secured the missing Waterhavian Treasury and deafeted Norska Ur'gray, a handful of bugbears, and a gazer. Norska and party were killed attempting to rob the party on behalf of the Xanathar Thieves' Guild. Injured and exhausted, the party returned to their home base, Trollskull Manor for a short rest.
Celebration Party
The Party's success was made to known through legal channels with Lady Laeral Silverhand, the Open Lord of Waterdeep who granted the party a 10% of the value of the missing treasure gold as a recovery fee. This news was the rushed to print in the evening copy of the Waterhavian Chronicler. This co-insided with the Grand Opening celebration at the Trollskull Manor.
After the party had taken a few moments to patch themselves up and look presentable, they were shocked to find the large turnout at their Tavern, packed to capacity. Their hired bard, Weaseltaint, had made sure to spread the news as wide and far as possible to maximise their popularity. The event lasted until nearly midnight.
Newly Popular
First thing the next morning, their business rival, Emmek Frewn arrives at their door hat in hand requesting a 1,500 gold piece loan to payoff a Zhentarim gang. The party heard him out and initially declined to pay him anything until they could fact check some of his story. The Party was done with breakfast and ready to check Emmek's story, when Davil Starsong came to the party in his carriage. He requested a 5,000 gold piece donation from the party to keep his branch of Zhentarim afloat in Waterdeep. They have taken serious loses of late and without the income would potentially be forced to withdraw. The party after a long discussion declined to donate any money to his and his branch.
The party went to visit with Mirt to asked about Emmek and his debt. They ran into Floon who was looking for a loan to pay off a gambling debt of 500 gold pieces to a gang running out of The Yawning Portal. The party spoke with him and convinced him to speak with his father about potentially paying the debt.
Finally the party met up with Mirt at his home, Mirt's Mansion. He verified that Emmek was declined any more loans until he was caught up. Mirt explained that about 2/3rd of this tavern was held against the debt he owed. The party discussed potentially lending him the money and buying the debt from Mirt, but didn't make a decision at that time.
The party headed back to Trollskull Manor to discuss and found Volo and a Chultan woman Obaya Uday waiting for them.
Obaya had heard of the party through the news and rumors at the The Yawning Portal, where she is staying. She is offering to buy any magic items from the party at premium prices for her master. The party took her information as will get back to her when they have something.Volo had also heard the party had come into quite the windfall. He wanted to proposion the party to fund his next book expedition. His current plan is to perhaps investigate Calimshan and write, "A Definitive Guide to Calimshan" for the modest sum of 5,000 gold pieces. The party discussed and didn't make an immediate decision, but determined to have Volo attend family dinner with Rexicon's family, the Barune family's that evening as a business proposition. The also asked Volo to consider taking Floon with him on the expedition.
The party then split with Rexicon Barune XIX, Kallista Kalli Of Sorrow, and Volo going to dinner with Rex's Family. Bjern Odinson , Snow Twinkle Star and Iroh Shield9 stayed at the Manor and kept watch on their place and Emmek's Inn, Frewn's Brews. While Soloman Bladesimmer, Soliloquy and Harly stayed at Frewn's Brew's to keep watch in person.
The party at the Barune's went well and late. The patron of the Barune family offered 3,000 gold to fund the expediction for Volo in return for 15% of the returns. Rexicon paid an addition 3,000 to include passage for Floon and raise the return to 25%. No significant events occured at the manor or Frewn's Brews.
A New Quest from the Harpers
The following morning a talented bard from the Yawning Portal, Mattrim Mereg comes to the party and requests the deliver payment to a female drow, Cal'al Claddani, who runs a tavern, the Flagon and the Dragon, in Skullport and is owed payment for providing shelter and healing to a wounded harper. He left a pouch with three moonstones. After the pouch is delivered, the party can take refuge in a harper hideout on the upper most level of Skullport called Dalagor's Fortress where a dragonborn mage, Felrax guards the place. The party accepted the quest.
Sometime shortly after breakfast the party is approached the manor by a Jelenn Urmbrusk), a proud woman and moneylender known to run in the social circles of many of the inflential members of town. She requests the party give her an interest free loan of 10,000 gold pieces that she will pay back within the year. In return she will use her considerable influence with the Lords of Waterdeep on the party's behalf. Apparently, she make was overextended and needed a loan from the Zhentarim who are now attempting to blackmail her. The party initially declines her request, but reconsiders and offers her the money with a 'word of mouth' offer of collateral on her villa for any unpaid interest. She states she has no other option and agrees to the terms.
The representatives from the Halls of Justice of approached the party paladin, Soloman Bladesimmer and asked about a donation. To which he provided some out of his share. The party divided the remaining portion of the reward and prepared to enter Undermountain the following day to work towards dropping off the money on behalf of the Harpers.Rewards Granted
